Alright, so I tend to write "slice-of-life" type stuffs. And I am soooooooooooooo sick of stupid sappy shippy crap and excessive "OMG were all going to die!" fics right now. So I decided to whip up some nice friendshipy-teamishness with no action whatsoever. Except the doubling over, I suppose. But I don't think that counts.

The giggling started with Sam. It wasn't quite a full-fledged giggle, but it was something. And it wasn't exactly every day that Sam Carter giggled.

Cam turned to face her, slightly confused. He didn't think there was anything funny, unless she was laughing at him. He took stock of himself and quickly found he was fine. "What's so funny, Colonel?" he asked, still a little taken off guard. Sam wasn't exactly a giggle-machine. She began to shake and turned away from him, the giggle turning into a quiet laugh. He thought it might have been funny, seeing her with a case of the giggles, but he still wasn't sure she wasn't making fun of him. Even if there wasn't anything to make fun of. Teal'c seemed to get the joke, so he wasn't taking any chances. "What?!?"

Tears were running down her face now. Daniel turned to her and snorted. It was funny, but not that funny. Her laughter, however - that was funny. She pushed his shoulder. He grinned and shrugged it off. She doubled over laughing silently, gasping for air.

Cam's forehead wrinkled. What the Sam Hill? He began to mentally run over what had been happening the past couple of minutes. The giraffes, the elephants, seals, and now penguins. Penguins were pretty funny, but certainly that wasn't it. What had the man just said? Oh. An understanding grin spread across his face. It wasn't that funny. But still, he could see why she was laughing. The zoo employee had said something about a penguin named Jack learning tricks. Cam shook his head. He supposed if he knew O'Neill as well as they did, he would find it even funnier, but trying to place a general in the same thought as a penguin went against years of training and practice.

Sam recovered her voice. "It's just that…I had this mental image…Col. O'Neill in a tux, waddling on ice…I know it's not that funny, but it is!" She lost control again, and Daniel elbowed her. "Maybe if his nose was painted orange. And he had a raw fish in his mouth." His face took on an I'm-over thinking-this-one look. "He does like to fish." Sam was practically on the floor, face bright red.

"Well, at least they named the smartest one Jack." Cam said.

Sam's face scrunched up. "What?"

Cam's eyebrow rose. "Well, the man said Jack was the only one who learned tricks. So he was the smart one of the bunch. I figure, if we're going to compare a general with a penguin, at least it's the smartest penguin here." He flashed a sarcastic grin. And sent Sam into another wave of uncontrolled laughter.
