Finally, it was happening. He was going to rule, he was ruling. Earth was his planet now and the so called "Avengers" could do nothing about it, especially his brother. Loki stood upon Stark tower gazing over his work. The Chitauri did not fail to please him as they destroyed the city, but at the same time it all felt wrong. Something felt completely wrong, this was not the way to teach the Earthlings how to be submissive. It did not really matter how they became submissive as long as he had the Tesseract and Thanos was pleased. Looking up, he spotted the light source that opened the portal. This isn't worth it, he thought repeatedly, but it's needed to prove to all of them that I'm just as good as him. As if on cue, he saw his brother flying towards Stark Tower. He smirked to himself.
Brother.
What kind of a joke is that he was seen nothing to him, but beneath him and he would no longer suffice to the label of the other, more feeble god.
"Loki!" The masculine voice roared from behind him breaking his concentration. Loki turned to face Thor with a stoic face. "What is it that you want?" He replied.
"Why do you do this? All you have caused is pain and suffering, this is not the way any man should rule over a kingdom!" Thor said through gritted teeth. "What happened to the younger brother that played with me as a child?"
"I was never your brother as you know very well of." Loki spat, "And how would you know anything about ruling over a kingdom? You say this is your domain, yet these people are the most gruesome at war," he continued,"What ruling have you done, oh mighty Thor, that could possibly teach me anything?"
"Brother, please." Thor spoke with a gentler tone. "Don't do this, blood or not I've watched you grow and you've watched me. We trained together, Loki!" He dropped the mjolnir and put his hands on Loki's shoulder. "Please change your ways..."
"Don't you try to sway me with your words, they mean nothing..." Loki turned his head away but saw only his destruction. He knew Thor was right, he always was, but it was possible that he could be wrong. Right? Everywhere he looked there was devastation, unneeded death and grotesque creatures descending from the skies. Clenching his fists tightly, he forced the tears back from falling. He would let no one see him weak. Gripping the scepter tightly in his hand, he shoved Thor away from him summoning all the power within him, the leader, the fighter- a king. "This is my domain! Either you succumb to me or suffer with the rest of those insolent beings!"
Thor looked around at the hysteria and closed his eyes tightly. Once again he would have to clean up after Loki's mess, but at the rate the others were going to finish him off it would be the end of that and he could not have that happen. Even if he was adopted, even if he denied even being brothers, he would still love him regardless and he knew deep down Loki knew that. Grabbing his shoulder, he pulled him back to face him and lifted his chin so he looked him straight in the eye. "I will not let you lose your life because of pride. Remember that, brother." Looking over the edge of the Stark Tower, he spotted the giant worm with the Hulk pounding on its back. He jumped off the tower landing on the creatures back and looked up at the top of the tower where Loki stood.
Loki watched as Thor lept off the tower and his strength amazed him as it always did. Once Thor had landed safely on the worm he saw him look back at him, almost as if he knew he would be looking. There wasn't any doubt in his mind that Thor wouldn't have his way, he always did.
