Title: Art

Rating: K

Disclaimer: ER characters are not mine.

Description: A very short Luby piece, somewhat inspired by The Advocate, (9.17). "You thought you knew what art was when the first time you watched your father paint, as a boy of twelve."

Author's note: A little drabble, that came from nowhere! Big thankyous as always to everyone who encourages me with my writing: Tash, Sunny, Meghan, Felicitas, Anna, Rowena..and to everyone who had read and reviewed me. I appreciate it so much. Something longer hopefully coming soon.

Colours, oil paint mixed with sand. Watercolour seeping into the ready canvas. Wasted pieces of carbon pressed against shockingly white paper. Aquamarine sea melting into fine ochre sands, mountains unfurling as black beasts. Waves as white horses, foaming with aggravation and mystery. A tar black night cut with ribbons of jade stars.

You thought you knew what art was when the first time you watched your father paint, as a boy of twelve.

But as a man approaching forty, you now know what art is.

It is the colour in her hair, the cigarette at her fingertips.

That is art.
