She didn't know what it was. It was a shadow, slowly crawling it's way towards her. Staring at it, she made a decision, and, gripping one of the many stuffed toys on her bed (this one was a six inch Black Magician Girl) jumped onto the floor, and ran to her parents room. No words need be said. No cry of fear. Her dad's black spiked hair formed a star as he looked up.

"Kimiko? Wha-*yawn*-ong?"

Brown hair and blond bangs gilded silver in the moonlight, she tried to suppress a whimper.

"There's a monster in my room. It's crawling towards me and it's scary."

He slipped out of bed immediately. Trotting into her room, she pointed to the black form. Noting her, it turned, thinking Atem to be a regular adult.

Kimiko felt a slight glow come from her dad. Not saw. Felt. Some forms of magic are invisible except in the most extreme circumstances.

Strange, how whenever she told her parents about the monsters, they didn't just pat her head, suppressing a laugh as they praised her active imagination. And if she came into their room, complaining and whining about the creature on the floor, like most five year olds do, it wasn't proclaimed to be a blanket or stuffed animal like so many adults seem to do, unable to see the creatures. Indeed, there had been times, when her stuffed animals and toys had protected her.

One time, she had woken in between the paws of her stuffed Silver Fang (which sometimes did pillow duty, it was so large) feeling it growl softly at something behind her.

And another time, the Osirus dragon made from interlocking metal plates hanging from the ceiling, that created slow shifting versions of the english letter S whenever it moved, had awoken her with violent writhing, as it created many other shapes beyond what it should have been able to do, o's and u's and loop de loops, as it trying to escape the wires suspending it in flight. A huge black shape was drawing towards her. That time, both her parents had come running without her doing a thing, the glow so strong it was visible. Anzu had whisked her off to their room as Atem stayed behind for a few minutes. When they came in the next day, the Osirus dragon was "flying" on her bed, back to the gentle s's and her sheets were ripped. It winked at her.

Her parents always insisted she carry some model of a Duel Monster with her everywhere, which is why she had a chimera in her backpack. In fact, all her parents friends (rivals, in Kaiba's case) enforced the duel monsters thing, seeming to see these monsters too. And good thing too. Sometimes the shadow creatures came in the day, moving from shadow to shadow.

But right now, Kimiko was happy to fall back asleep. Once she had, the Black Magician Girl plushie sat up, morphing from a crude toy to a perfect living replica. Tonight, she guarded the pharaoh's child.

Grinning at the shadows, 'Come on out. Make my night.'

Getting the message, they left. They would never get any prey here, but they always tried. Black Magician Girl would get her fun sooner or later.

Behind her, a child slept on, oblivious in her innocence to all that went on around her.

Breakline.

Well. Cute, and innocent. I'm going to do a series of these. (All published separately) Read and review, give me ideas for cute parent child things! I will do same sex couples and their children! (They will be adopted though. Just warning you. I don't do Mpreg)
