I blushed as he came close. I begged for him to keep on walking-of course, he did nothing of the sort. He was just that kind of person.

"Heeeey! How's it going?" he yelled over to me, crossing the road as he distinguished my blue hair and purple jacket from the crowd around me. I turned to him. I was sure my whole face was red. It felt warm enough to be.

I had planned on saying "Good, how have you been?" But the words got lost on the way to my mouth and were caught in my throat.

"F-fine, Naruto-kun." I managed to spit out. Good going, self.

"Great! Hey, you seen Sai? I was supposed to tell him baa-chan wants him." I shook my head, my reaction mixed. On one hand, he would leave and I could regain control of my heart and it would stop pounding so hard it felt like it would leap out of my chest. On the other, my pounding heart sunk a little, disappointed that he hadn't been here to talk to me. "Oh. Well, then, see ya later, Hinata!"

I watched him dart off, in search of his friend. I watched his retreating back for a moment before turning away.

Oh, well.

He'll pick it up on it soon enough. Just not now, I guess.

He'd never been the sharpest kunai in the pouch.
