Cripple Them First

Zarcon has decided to revaluate his tactics in obtaining Voltron. Instead of aiming for the head, he aims to cripple one of the lesser, more easier to target spots on the team. Some Klance in later chapters maybe, but definitely at least hinted at.

"Lord Zarcon." Haggar knelt in front of the emperor of the Galra. "We have located Voltron heading towards the cluster of planets we have recently colonized. Shall I send forth one of my beasts to go collect it?" She asked, already planning on who she
would take to make into her next creature and what power it would have to take down the lions.
"No." Came the uncharacteristic response from the great leader.
"What?" She looked up in shock.
"I want the planets to be evacuated of all troops except sentries. Make it easy for the Paladins to take back control of those planets with only one or two lions."
"Yes sire, of course, but what are you planning?" The witch tried to inquire, only to step back as Zarcon stood up with a threatening aura. She quickly bowed her head and walked out, allowing the emperor to contact his generals in private.
