Prologue

"Bitch!" He yelled at me as I was running away in tears. "Yeah just keep on running you son of a bi-" "GEOGE GET INSIDE NOW! I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANY OF THAT LANGUAGE, I OAUT TO BEAT YOU FOR IT! "Yelled George's mother. George turned around and gave a cold hard stare towards his mother. George's cloths were covered in mud from our fight. I hated that kid. If he wasn't 10x bigger than me, he would have been without a head by now. What seemed like minutes (but only about 10 seconds) George obeyed and followed his mother inside their home. It wasn't a very nice home. Heck, nothing in District 7 was nice. George just went inside his wooden home and his mother stared at me. I was about 40 feet away from her, and standing in mud. George's mom then gives a sharp snort and closes the door. The world is quiet. By now it is probably about 7 pm. The sun is starting to set. If I don't get back to my house, the peacemakers will be all over me. Maybe even whip me for being out passed curfew. Wasn't my fault George Bucks was being an ass and deliberately punch me square in the nose. I still can remember it.

Me, Sam, George, and Happlen were all playing tag. While I was it, I got George and he said that I cheated and just followed him. This of course was not true. While George was it he chased me and when he got to me punched me in the nose. Well, I wasn't gonna have it. I got up and we started a brawl. The other kids broke us up, but saw Kathin, George's mom come outside. I started to run with tears and blood dripping down my face. George started cussing me out, but his mother heard and will probably get a beating for it.

After a minute of reminiscing, I look around for the direction for my house. The signs on the side of the street are dim, but I can read them. I live and Maple Street and I run down there. It's now 7:25 and I am nowhere close to my house. The guards will be out in about 5 minutes. I take a sharp left turn and stop in my tracks. I look straight down the street where I live. The guards are already coming out for night parole. I panic, they shouldn't be out yet. I check my watch. It's 7:26! Still 4 minutes to go. I look back behind me at the village clock. It says 7:31. I slap the watch in my hand. Stupid watch, I'll make sure to throw you away later. I slowly inch back towards Maple Street. I can go down my street, but only behind the houses. After I get behind one of the houses on Maple Street. I sprint straight down as fast as I can go. I see that none has noticed me. I get to the end of the street and stare into the woods. If it turn walk into these woods and turn right for a while. I would reach my house. Unfortunately, there is, of course, a large fence saying, High voltage, always on, etc. I consider the chances of it being on. Normally they turn it on when it something bad happens or if the president is in the district. I take another step closer to the fence. I think I hear a humming sound until it is cut off by two peacemakers yelling " Hey kid get away from there, it's passed curfew and you're gonna get it." I spin around and see two peacemakers in their fully white outfits and batons in hand. Without consideration I leap onto the fence and my body shakes, shudders, and then falls to the ground. The fence was on.
