Chapter 1 - A Nightmare Returns

It was another beautiful sunny day in Adventure Bay. Six months had passed since the PAW Patrol's big adventure in Barkingburg, revealing Chase's past and finding the magical crystal elements. Now, Ryder and the pups were doing better than ever. The amount of interviews they had done for the local news was astounding.

"So Ryder, tell us, what's the secret?" asked Mayor Goodway. "What makes the PAW Patrol unstoppable?"

"Well, it's not just one thing, it's a combination" Ryder replied. "Right pups?"

"Yeah" said Rocky. "Each pup knows what their job is."

"We all work as a team" smiled Zuma.

"Ryder's a great leader" said Skye.

"Our vehicles and pup packs are so cool" stated Rubble.

"We have the best treats ever" laughed Marshall.

"And most important of all, we're a family" smiled Ryder.

"And there you have it folks, the secret the PAW Patrol's success" said Mayor Goodway. "Teamwork, friendship, and tasty treats."

Everyone in the crowds laughed, for they adored the PAW Patrol and appreciated everything they did to keep the town safe. Just then, the loud sound of plane engines echoed through the sky. Everyone raised their heads and eyes as a shape emerged from the clouds. It was the Air Patroller.

"Yay!" giggled Skye. "He's back!"

Whilst things hadn't changed much for the rest of the PAW Patrol, thing had certainly changed for Chase. Since finding out his royal heritage, he had become one busy pup. As well as doing his PAW Patrol duties, Chase now had royal duties to attend to with his mother in Barkingburg. Whilst it was exhausting for him, Chase didn't mind, for he felt proud to helping both his home towns.

"Look!" shrieked Alex as the Air Patroller landed. "Prince Chase is here!"

As the door of the Air Patroller opened, the crowd of people swarmed over it like a stink on a skunk. The extra work in his life Chase had gotten used to, however, his royal status was still causing a few problems. The poor pup couldn't even walk down the street without being invaded by people.

"Chase, how was your latest trip to Barkingburg?" asked a reporter.

"What's it like being royal?" asked a kid.

"Do you have servants?" asked a Staffie pup.

"Will you quit the PAW Patrol and move to the castle?" asked a journalist.

All these questions and crowding were making Ryder and the pups mad. They didn't like seeing their friend having to go through this. They knew they had to intervene.

"Alright everyone, that's enough" shouted Ryder.

"Step away from my boyfriend" demanded Skye.

"The interview's over" stated Rocky.

"Give the dude a little breathing space" said Zuma.

"He's probably very tired and needs some sleep" said Marshall.

As everyone finally moved back, Ryder and the pups could see finally see their German Shepherd friend. Except, he didn't look tired at all. There he stood with a big smile on his face.

"Guys, it's ok" Chase said calmly. "In response to all your questions, the trip was great because I've been training the new canine members of the royal guard. Being royal has its benefits, but also its drawbacks. Yes I have servants but I like to do things myself. And no, I would never leave the PAW Patrol or Adventure Bay because this is my home as much as Barkingburg is."

"Please, tell us more about your latest trip?" the reporter butted in again.

"I'd love you, but right now, I'd really like to relax and catch up with my girlfriend and team please."

As Chase walked off, the crowd tried to follow him, but Mayor Goodway shooed them off back to the town along with herself. Once the press had finally gone, the PAW Patrol could finally give Chase the welcome home they'd planned.

"It's great to see you Chase" Ryder smiled, scratching his top pup behind the ear.

"It's great to see you guys too" Chase smiled. "Had any interesting rescues lately."

"Na" replied Zuma. "It's always less fun when you're not here dude."

"How's your mum and the Princess?" asked Rocky.

"They're good" Chase replied. "Barkingburg is doing great now that Sweetie is safely locked away."

"So, what do you wanna do?" asked Marshall. "We could play Pup Pup Boogie?"

"Or we could watch Apollo Super Pup?" suggested Rubble.

"Thanks guys" Chase sighed. "But, Skye and I already have plans for tonight."

Realising he wanted some time with his girlfriend, Ryder and the boys left, but not without a little tease.

"Chase and Skye, sitting in a puphouse, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" they all chanted as they walked away.

Chase and Skye sighed, for they knew that was never going to change. Once they finally got a minute alone, they wasted no time in hugging each other and nuzzling each other's noses.

"So…" Skye asked flirtatiously. "What are we doing tonight?"

"Well if I told you it wouldn't be a surprise" Chase grinned. "Meet me by town hall tonight at 6."

Nodding, Chase and Skye went their separate ways to get ready for the evening. Skye rushed over to Katie's Pet Parlour to have bath and shampoo ready for the night. Chase was busy planning the surprise he had up his fur. He wanted to show that whilst he's away a lot, Skye will always be his special girl. When the clock began to strike 6, Chase and Skye met each other for their night.

"Where are you taking me? asked Skye. She had her eyes shut and Chase leading her somewhere.

"Ok, you can look now" Chase smiled.

As Skye opened her rosy pink eyes, she gasped at the sight that lay before her. Chase had led her to the beach for a moonlight picnic.

"Oh Chase, this is the most special thing anyone's ever done for me" Skye said. "Thank you."

As they dug into their favourite puppy treats, they looked up at the sky and saw the stars twinkling brightly on the ocean water. But Chase wasn't done yet.

"I have one final surprise" he said, pulling out a small pink box wrapped in white bow. "I had this made whilst I was in Barkingburg because I want you to know how special you are to me, and no matter what, you'll always be my princess."

As Skye opened the box, inside was something truly magnificent. Fashioned from silver and pink diamonds, was a beautiful bracelet. As Chase picked it up and placed it on Skye's wrist, they gazed at each other like nothing else mattered.

"This has been the best night of my life" said Skye as the pair of them headed back to the Lookout.

"Me too" replied Chase. "Good night."

And that, they returned to their own puphouses for night. They both drifted off into a sleep full of romantic dreams about each other. The next morning, the sun shining once again as the PAW Patrol prepared for another day's work.

"Ok pups, ready for our morning drills?" said Marshall eagerly.

When Chase was away, Marshall had been trying to prove he was ready to step up and be a leader. Although, his clumsiness was still an issue. They were ready to start, but then realised they were one pup short.

"Ryder, I need to talk to you!" Chase panted, hurrying up to the Control Room.

"Whoa Chase, calm down" Ryder replied as his pup got his breath back. "What's wrong?"

Upset and scared, Chase told him a shocking revelation, "I've had another nightmare vision."
