Author's Notes: I wrote this for a Yugioh challenge community on LiveJournal. The challenge was basically to write something inspired by the word 'explosions'. Guess what? It isn't KaiJou! Shock! ;)

Disclaimer: I do not own Yugioh or any of it's characters.

Kaiba Seto had not been there when it happened.

No, he had not been inside. However, he'd seen it. From a distance. Through the windshield of his car, in fact. He'd just left KaibaCorp and was on his way home. It was late at night, or early morning; but to Kaiba, they were one and the same. Spending endless hours locked up in his office was just another part of the job.

He pulled over on the side of the narrow road and rubbed his eyes. He folded his arms over the steering wheel and rested his head on them, closing his eyes. It was so unlike him, so strange. If he hadn't done it though, he wouldn't have seen it happen.

Fate, as some would call it.

He looked up at the large structure that stood towering over Domino City. He watched the moon glow eerily above the trademark "KC" logo atop the building.

He didn't quite comprehend what happened next.

A red-orange ball of fire exploded on the uppermost floors. Huge. It was the most amazing thing he'd ever seen; the colors mixing together and clouding the deep night sky, the smoke spreading out further and further, systematically covering each glowing star above the city. He watched the building burn for almost ten minutes before he realized what he'd just seen.

Oh my god…

Almost on cue, two or three more explosions blew out the windows of the middle and lower floors of KaibaCorp.

Kaiba, mesmerized, undid his seatbelt and stepped out of his car, his eyes fixated at the burning building, thousands of thoughts rushing through his mind but none of them completely processing.

People started crowding the streets and sidewalks, some shocked, some scared, but none of them noticed the young CEO who sat on the sidewalk, his vision blurred by tears.

Then Kaiba did something he hadn't done in years. It was a feeling he didn't remember, something he couldn't remember doing since he was a child.

Without making a sound, he cried. He stared up at KaibaCorp, tears streaming down his face, not understanding who had done this and why. He didn't want to understand. The only thing he knew at this point was that it was all over. Everything would be destroyed.

Ignoring the panic around him, he simply sat, looking up, watching his life burn away.
