Summery: Harry comes home to an unusual summer. Chapter 1. Empty Home, Empty Heart Harry opened the car door and stepped into the dreary sunlight of number four Privet drive. He stretched and went around to the trunk of the car and pulled out his trunk and Hedwig's cage. He uncle had already gone into the house and shut the door. Harry dragged the trunk up the driveway and opened the door. The house was eerily quiet. He looked around and saw most of the family pictures of Dudley gone. Harry was puzzled. There was normally whole walls covered with Dudley's pictures, but now there walls were mostly bare. A chill runs down his spine and he cautiously walks up the stairs, dragging the trunk. He paused at the top of the stars and stared. The room at the top of the stairs is open and quiet. He leaves his trunk and walks slowly towards his cousin's room. Carefully he sticks his head in and looks around. The room is completely empty. Only the small patched hole in the wall were Dudley had once punched it in anger still remained. Harry was scared. Dudley was gone. He had no plans to leave. Harry had heard him talk about staying at home until he could get a boxing career. Did he already get one? No. Uncle Vernon would have certainly mentioned it if not bragged about it the entire time. Harry turned around and ran back to his trunk. Pulling it open he grabbed his wand, and invisibility cloak. He then tucked the wand in the new holder sewn in on his sleeve and wraps the cloak under the many times too big shirt from Dudley. Shutting his trunk he opened his bedroom door and dragged his trunk into the dark room. He switched on the light he saw everything as he left it. He dragged the trunk to the wall across from his bed and looks around. Something weird is going on he thought. He shuts the door and looks under his bed. The floorboards are all still there. He lifted them up and finds something unusual. It's a letter. Dear Harry, I don't think I will see you when you get back from school. Vernon will probably be the only one at home. I hope you find this alright because it is of great importance. My son Dudley is dead. Evil men came to the house... The letter ended. The rest was blank. Harry was now completely terrified. Aunt Petunia gone, Dudley dead? Something was very, very wrong. Harry replaced the boards with the letter in his hands and went to the window. He opened it and turned to Hedwig's cage to release her. "Meet me in the park Hedwig. If I don't show up in ten minuets go to Dumbledore and the others. Okay?" Harry said. Hedwig nipped his finger gently and flew through the open window. Harry turned and grabbed ink, quill, and parchment from his trunk then walked cautiously down the stairs towards the front door. "Where are you going boy?" roared his uncle coming out of the kitchen. "Just down to the school to get some fresh air. It was a long train ride." Harry replied calmly. His uncle looked at him for a minuet and nodded. "Alright. But be back in half an hour." "Okay. Bye then." Harry said as he turned and walked through the door. After walking calmly and normally around the block towards the park and passing out of sight of the house Harry broke into a run and raced towards the park to find Hedwig.
