A/N: I know it's been a while since I wrote for Ironman but this was a challenge that had to be met. Enjoy it.
Shifting uncomfortably in his chair newly reinstated CEO Tony Stark, did his best to pay attention to the meeting going on around him. It wasn't happening. His executives were droning, the material mind numbing, and worst of all Pepper was no where to be found. This was ridiculous he was bored, sore and itchy. He really did need to come up with a better under suit for his armor. Neoprene just did not breathe.
Letting out an agitated breath and cracking his neck and knuckles, Tony was about to call a halt in the meeting when Pepper breezed in. Sitting up a little straighter, Tony smiled at his assistant and girlfriend. It felt like it had taken him ages for him to finally convince Pepper to actually be his girlfriend, but the wait had been well worth it. Catching Pepper's eye Tony smiled wider, momentarily ignoring his discomfort. Pepper returned his smile before gaining the attention of the rest of the board members.
"Ladies and Gentleman, I hate to interrupt, but it's time to break for lunch. I have some refreshments here, and of course the cafeteria is always open. I believe Mr. Stark has agreed to reconvene in an hour's time." Pepper said, ever the professional.
Standing Tony gave his nod of approval to the rest of the board members, "I will see everyone back here in an hour." Pausing to chat with the President of R&D, Tony failed to notice his brand new CFO edge his way closer and closer to Pepper. Only after a few moments of chatting did Tony look over and see James Kriger much too close to Pepper, for his comfort. Eyes narrowing, Tony excused himself before heading over to Pepper's side.
"Pep, I ever tell you you're a life saver?" Tony asked wrapping his arm around Pepper's waist.
"You have mentioned it once or twice. Pray tell, what did I do to earn such praise this time?" Pepper asked with a quirked brow.
"You called for lunch. A man has to eat. Say did you bring the cream I asked for?"
"Is something a matter ?" Kriger asked, attempting to suck up to Tony and show a caring side to Pepper.
"What did you need the cream for Tony? You didn't say."
"Nothing to worry over Pepper. Minor injuries, think you could help me? I reward handsomely." Tony smirked.
"Tony…really." Pepper rolled her eyes. "Not the place or the time. If you'll excuse us, Mr. Kriger."
"So should we discuss the rug burns on my back or just save that for a separate conversation?" Tony asked rather loudly as Pepper dragged him toward his office, smiling broadly, knowing his claim had been staked.
A/N: Ok so if the story seems kind of of jumpy, it's intended. It's how I imagine Tony thinks.
My prompt: (352): Should we discuss the rug burns on my back or just save that for a separate conversation
R&R and if you happen to ready my NCIS fic I'll update that soon :)
