If you love me…
Then let go of me.
I won't be held down,
By who I used to be.
Harry emerged from Dumbledore's office in a daze. 'I am going to die… I am going to die.' The words were like a mantra in his mind. In hindsight, it was strange how shocked he was by this revelation, of course he was going to have to die to rid the world of this evil. He was not anywhere near powerful enough to defeat Voldemort on his own. A life for a life, when he looked at it that way it was not surprising in the least.
He made his way slowly down the stairs and past the eagle sentry. He was so focused on putting one foot in front of the other that he nearly ran into the tall blonde who had been lounging against the wall outside of Dumbledore's room.
"What happened… Harry… Why are you shaking, love?" He embraced the smaller boy readily. Harry clung to him like a drowning man, which, in a way he supposed he was. His trembling fingers wound their way into the silky material on the back of his boyfriend's shirt.
Somehow, in the settling dusk of the unlit hallway, there was no need for words. Somehow, Draco just knew. His grip tightened on the one thing he held dear to his icy heart with one hand, as the other produced the invisibility cloak from the recesses of his robes. Without letting go of Harry he covered the pair of them in the silvery material. Together they began the silent walk towards the forest. There were no words passed between them, because what would be said? How could they possibly condense a lifetime of words into a mere hour of life? They couldn't, so they didn't try.
Harry loved how Draco always seemed to know what he needed. He clutched even tighter to the love of his life as the Forbidden Forest loomed closer. He breathed in Draco's comforting scent, and Draco listened to Harry's steady breath. Both refused to acknowledge the tears running thick and fast down their faces.
By unspoken agreement they stopped just inside the line of trees. The cloak was removed, and Draco leaned down so that their foreheads met. If only Draco could spend his life this way, standing in peace with his little love, the rest of the world could just melt away.
Harry refused to close his eyes, not even to blink. If he had to die, in order to let everyone he loved live, this was the way he wanted to remember his life. Here, in Draco's arms. It was the perfect ending to a not so perfect life.
If you love me…
Then let go of me.
I won't be held down…
By who I used to be.
There was no need for frantic kisses or hurried 'I love you' 's. their eyes held all the emotion in their hearts as they met for the last time. Now all there was left to do, was to let go.
A/N: sorry this was sad… it's just what I thought of when I heard that song… (the weight of the world by evanescence) I hope you liked it please tell me what you think!
