A/N: This story is based on the Cannon Movie Tale version of Puss in Boots.

Puss
I can describe Corin in two words: thoughtful and slow.
Oh he's not stupid, not by any means. He just has a thick skull and can't always see what's staring him in the face. Luckily I can work with that.
He's also thoughtful, which is a serious drawback. He never thinks of himself, which is where I come in.
Did you really think that his father didn't know about me? We used to have long talks by the fireside after the boys had gone to bed. I would gently extract myself from Corin's arms and sit down on the chair across from his father. His father trusted me to tell him exactly what was happening between his sons. And although I saw everything, I couldn't bear to tell him the truth.
It would break his heart to learn how his brothers treated him, how they made him do all the chores and housework, how they would beat him if he forgot, and how they would beat him just for fun when they were bored. Their father, bless his heart, was too busy trying to make the mill a success to notice what was happening right in front of his eyes.
Perhaps I should have told him or maybe I did the right thing. I don't know; I'm only a cat for heaven's sake. The point is, when he was dying, he understood enough to leave Corin to me. That was exactly what I wanted.
Corin was always my favourite. It wasn't just the fact that he always made sure to put a bowl of milk out for me, and it wasn't the fact that it was actually him who swam out to save me from that pond. No, it was the fact that I knew he deserved more than what he was getting.
I would watch him rise early in the morning, and I would follow him through the forest as he called to the birds, gathering their eggs, picking herbs and berries and flowers for the day's meals. I saw the gentle way he treated every animal he came in contact with, how he laughed at the stream, hurriedly making its way into the pond, as if to say 'what's the point in rushing, you're missing everything!'
I also saw the way he loved his brothers, despite their harsh treatment, and how he loved his father too much to break his heart by telling him the truth of how he was treated.
Sometimes at night, when his brothers had fallen asleep, he would whisper to me his dreams of the future. All he wanted was a small cottage to call his own, and someone to share it with. How he wished to be able to read and write like his brothers, and how he longed for his brothers. I grew to love him during these times. I mean, as close to love as a cat can get.
It was then that I began planning on how I would make all his dreams come true. I knew I could do it. All I needed was a pair of boots…

A/N: So there it is, my answer to the question "what made Corin so great that all his dreams get to come true?"
Puss in Boots by Cannon Films is one of my favourite movies of all time.
