I wrote this chapter a few years ago and kinda forgot about it... I thought that I would post it because I am having severe writers block with my other story.
I hope that you enjoy it.
Bold = Inner's and Shakaku's thoughts
Chapter 1
Sakura Point of view:
The blistering heat bore down upon my back as I timidly walked towards the park. My parents had recently decided to move from our previous home in rain country. I did not like it in Suna. It is too hot, too dry, and I miss the rain and grass.
I apprehensively approached the park.
I looked at the carefree children playing soccer; their cheerful demeanor was contagious. Each child had a slightly different aura around them. Everyone did. I was born with the ability to see another's soul. This was how I decided who was safe to be around. I wanted to join them, but I was afraid that they would not want to play with me.
I slowly walked up to the children. Looking down at the ground I noticed that the ball that they had been playing with had rolled to my feet.
Shyly, I leaned down to pick it up. My green eyes peeped past my unruly pink hair that fell to my waist.
"Do you mind if I join?" I asked nervously. I had never had a friend to play with before.
A tall boy stepped out of the small group of children sizing her up. His soul was not like the other children's; I could immediately tell that he was not going to be nice to me. He looked at my small form with distain and said, "You're too small to play with us, go home."
The boy then proceeded to take the ball from my hands and continued the game. Devastated that my first attempts at making a friend had failed miserably, I ran to the playground unaware of the sympathetic green eyes that had witnessed the entire ordeal.
I sat on a swing and cried, tears hitting the dry ground.
Why does everyone seem to hate me, I only wanted to play with them.
Getting the feeling that someone was watching me, I lifted my head up. My head whipped around towards the sand box. There I saw a boy about my age with bright green eyes and red hair. His soul startled me and I for a moment I thought I had gone insane.
The boy had two souls? Never in my life had I seen that in anyone but myself.
Maybe he could be my friend… I thought as I slowly got off the swing. A familiar voice entered my mind and said be cautious with this one, he is not used to other people.
The voice had accompanied me for as long as I could remember, and I had dubbed her "Inner". Inner knew all sorts of useful information, and would constantly give me advice when I needed it.
Taking the warning from Inner, I calmly stepped up to the boy sitting in the sand box. I noted that the sand seemed to be gathered around the boy's legs.
"Hello, can I play with you?" I asked in a shaky whisper.
Gaara Point of view:
The pink haired girl walked to the playground by my sandbox. Nobody ever comes near me, she must be new.
She looked small, fragile, and therefore breakable. She would never play with me.
Ask her who she is, she is different, she will not run away…Shakaku, the demon sealed within me demanded.
"What is your name?" I asked the small girl wondering who she was.
"Hurano Sakura…what is your name? The girl, Sakura, was now at the edge of my sandbox. She stopped, and tilted her head to the side, studying me.
Feeling a little uncomfortable under her curious gaze, I quickly answered, "Sabaku no Gaara." For a moment we just stared at each other, until she broke the silence in a quiet voice.
"Why do you have two souls?"
If you want me to continue, please review and tell me. Also any input would be appreciated, I still do not know what I would like to happen in this story...
