I don't own Danny Phantom, though I wish I did.

Just a oneshot that I can't fit into my collection but love too much not to share.

Danny decided that stargazing as a ghost was officially the coolest thing ever.

Being able to fly up away from the lights of the town, kick back on the air like gravity didn't exist, and just gaze endlessly into the depths of space and never run out of things to spot… All of it was incredibly calming and brilliant and just plain awesome. Having ghost abilities, with all of the trouble they caused him, was completely worth it just for this. If the air wasn't so thin and the temperature wasn't so far down, he'd bring Sam up here in a heartbeat.

One of these days, he'd find a way to make that possible.

He tipped his head back, gazing back down at Amity Park for a few moments, before deciding that he should probably do a quick sweep.

One of the other cool things about ghost powers was the ability to free fall anytime, anywhere, and never needing a parachute. The wind hitting his face and the complete and utter rush of just falling was another thing he would never take for granted. It was invigorating in a way that was different from stargazing, but had the same general affect.

He slowed his decent as buildings drew nearer, and came to a slow stop a safe distance from any likely human interaction.

No ghost sense for this area.

Several minutes and a few miles later, and he felt it safe to go back up to his favorite spot in the air. He resumed his previous position, on his back, hands tucked under his head, one leg propped up on the other, and ticked off the constellations as he found them. Spring constellations, mostly, and summer ones he could see slowly making their way over the horizon.

He picked up a sound on the edge of his hearing. Mechanics, electronic noise, a hum at a pitch human ears couldn't pick up.

Valerie.

He opted, for some strange reason, not to acknowledge her. Unless she geared up to shoot him, which… she hadn't. There was no whine of a charged weapon.

"What are you doing up here, Phantom?"

The question had the same bite to it that her questions to him usually had. He could hear a weapon materialize into her hand, but it wasn't charging. Not yet.

"Stargazing."

"Why?"

He snorted in amusement.

"Why? Have you looked at the stars from up here?" he asked her. "You can see so many more when the lights from town don't drown them out. Literally the coolest thing ever, aside from actually going into space."

She shifted, but he didn't tense. After a long moment she spoke again.

"Didn't think ghosts could appreciate this kind of view."

Her inflection had changed. Danny smirked; she must have looked.
