Gone and Forgotten

It wasn't raining. It had been the sunniest day he'd ever seen and yet his hair was falling in front of his eyes. He hadn't tried to mess with his dark locks. They had grown far too long for him to put up into his usual spikes. His facial hair had grown and was now a splotchy mess upon his face. He didn't care. There was no reason for him to care.

Ginji was gone.

He stood outside the coffee shop and stared at the pavement in front of him. A car sped by and he looked away. He heard footsteps nearing the door and he started down the street. His head watched the sidewalk roll on underneath him. The cracks and bumps drew his attention but he continued walking. His hair fell in his field of vision and he brushed it back, a few seconds later it came back.

Ginji was gone.

The moon rose and Ban glared at it. He had lost another day. He itched the growth on his neck as he stood in line for his food. He still couldn't believe that another day was gone. He looked out the window and saw a long braid flowing across the window. Kazuki. He frowned and looked back to the line. He took a step forward and looked back to the window. A very stoic boy passed by the window. His head turned to Ban, but quickly turned away. The snake slithered forward and took his food. He exited and quickly ran down an alleyway. He hoped that Juubei would not say anything to Kazuki. He had to focus. He had to believe.

Ginji was gone.

His eyes closed and when they reopened the alley was still dark, but there was a light at the end of the dark tunnel. He moved slowly toward the light. He was much more comfortable at night. He could hide easier. He saw his car, only it wasn't his. The color was wrong. But it still brought back memories. He pushed them away hard and locked the door they were hidden behind. He couldn't think of those he had to… he had to forget and stay away.

Ginji was gone.

Ban began walking quickly. He looked behind him and quickened his pace. It had to be his imagination. It just had to be. He knew that he had to look ridiculous. Since he was obviously running from his own imagination. He turned once more and started to run as fast as he could. He ran for a few minutes trying to stay away from the figment. Once he stopped hearing the footsteps behind him he looked back, there was no one there. His feet stopped and he stood on the sidewalk. He felt a hand grab his collar and pull him down an alleyway. He stared at the blond head holding him against the bricks of the old building. 'What… have… you… been… doing?' The voice was interrupted by gasps for air.

Ginji…

Ban hadn't heard his own voice in over a month. It was strange. He looked at the blond hair and touched it. A snap of electricity flew through him and he pulled back. Ginji looked up and Ban's already serious face fell. The boy had tears running down his face. 'How could you leave me?' Ban crumbled. He pulled Ginji to him. 'I couldn't continue on.' Ginji nodded and wrapped his arms tighter around the other boy. 'It's ok. We'll just stay like we are forever.' Ban nodded.

The Get Backers were gone.
