The Yearly 365 Challenge

Prompt: #18 [Location] Sisters of Quiet Mercy

"Okay I know why I was sent here." Polly sighed as she sat on the cold wet bench next to the raven haired beauty that held her sister's soul. "But why were you sent here?" Her head tilted to the right.

Veronica turned her eyes to meet the blue eyes of Betty's sister. "I was just wondering where Betty disappeared to with Jughead instead of coming to see my first performance with the Pussy Cats." She started to laugh with her head tilted back.

Polly sat quietly waiting for the laughter to stop.

Veronica finally stopped laughing. Wiping her eyes with her hands. "I have been wondering ever since I yelled at her for ditching me to disappear with Jughead." She snorted. "At the time I honesty thought she was off with one of her wild ideas of leads." She turned back to stare wide eyed into Polly's compassionate eyes. "Even then I thought her leads were silly. Even through I knew that most of those leads were honesty leading to whom murdered Jason Blossom. That she would do anything and go anywhere to find out the truth. I was with her on some of the chasing after leads." Her fist pounded in her lap. "But I wanted one day to be a normal teenager ... when I joined the Pussy Cats I thought that was the chance."

"You were never a normal teenager Veronica." Polly spoke truthfully in the middle of the rant.

"I was jealous that Betty would much rather be chasing a stupid lead to a murder case ... then to come to my premier performance as a Pussy Cat." Veronica snarled. "I was purely 'ol' Veronica Lodge' then. I didn't give a damn. I didn't give her a chance to tell me what she found out. Where she went. That she found you."

"Betty understood." Polly spoke.

"She shouldn't have." Veronica snared. "She should have screamed at me that I was being selfish. That I wasn't center of the world. That other people mattered. That other people had problems of their own. That my problems didn't matter in that time." Tears of rage rolled down her cheeks. "But she just stood there and let me be a selfish bitch towards her." Her eyes turned to look at the building that housed the Sisters of Quiet Mercy.

"I'm fucking tired of being so damn selfish all the fucking time." Veronica sighed.
