The mostly empty church lay waiting for the service to begin. I sat in the middle pew next to an older couple and their two kids. I looked up front and saw several people sitting patiently for the pastor to walk in. The old church was a small, flimsy building that sat out by a highway in the middle of nowhere. The white paint on the outside looked faded and there were splinters from the wood planks. The inside was a stark contrast. There were blue carpets lining the floor and nice smooth wooden pews. The front was raised about a foot or so and there was a monitor, computer and a projection screen. I looked over, and saw my Mentor. He nodded for me to come over.

"Young Ni'hil. Are you ready for this very important task at hand today?" He said, his deep, booming voice echoing throughout the church. Looking around, I noticed that none had paid any attention to him, or me for that matter.

"I- I think so Mentor." I said looking away, twiddling my fingers. He let out a long deep sigh.

"Ni'hil; look at me boy! You have a great potential! Stop squandering it over your human emotions! Today is a very important day for you." He grasped my shoulders and made direct eye contact with me, something that was a rarity for him to do. "This is the day that you start realizing your true potential as a demon! Once you finish this test, I will bring you to the Dark Lord for coronation as a Commanding Officer as tradition says!" I could see a smile on his face for just a quick second, after which his sober emotionless expression took over, which led me to believe that I was just seeing things.

"I think I'm ready now!" I said my pitch matching his own. I straightened up and cocked my head back and forth. I started to feel a little quiver in my heart and breathed a little. I had fully known what I was going into, but something told me that this was a bad idea. Run away little one while you still can. I shook my head and returned to my conversation.

"Good Ni'hil! I feel that it is about time that I give you this." My eyes widened with excitement as he pulled out a small lightsaber from his sharp black suit. Putting a proud hand on my shoulder he said. "Put out your hands so that I may bestow this upon you, my nephew." I studied the handle. It was silver with a gold tint in the middle and appeared to be around one and a half meters in length. "This shall be the weapon that I give to you for not only this mission, but for every mission. This weapon shall be the difference between life and death! I expect you to treat it as such!" My uncle's tone changed to that of pride. I nodded and took the hilt and put it in my own black suit. We both decided to wear the same dress: a black suit with a white buttoned down shirt, some blue dress pants with a belt to match, and some leather dress shoes. Our dress might have been uncommon for a regular church service, but today was Easter though you'd never think it was because of the weather. We were in the middle of the blizzard with the snow already several inches deep. The roads around us were bad even the highway was a mess.

"Yes uncle. I shall take this with a great sense of pride!" I said smiling with a wide grin. Around us people started to rise and the pastor walked in. Stopping on the higher step he began to speak. "Uncle, I think the service has begun." I said with a wicked smile. He nodded approvingly and we took our seats. Around the middle of the service the pastor asked if anyone wanted to be saved on this glorious day. Several hands went up and I could see a gash of pride form on his face. It was at that time that I put up a reluctant hand.

"Ah we have another one! Let us stretch out our hands and pray that he might seek God!" The pastor said beaming with joy. I struggled to stand up and a parishioner offered to help me. I waived him off and walked over towards the center of the isle. I greeted the pastor with a fake warm smile. He was about as tall as my uncle and around two feet taller than I was. Round in size I figured he wasn't that athletic and I could take him down. I got real close up to him and ignited the lightsaber the red blade coming out instantly. I saw his smile turn into a horrifying look on his face. I could even see small beads of sweat already forming on his brow. I took the saber and pointed it at his chest and cut his body, the blade cutting through like he was butter. I could hear the screams of the parishioners and I could feel warmth spreading throughout my body. This is what I was born to do.

"Hail Satan!" I said through grit in my teeth. I started to feel weightless as I flew up, my inner ki stirring throughout my stomach. Curling up into a ball I began to feel dark energy flow all throughout my body. I started to shiver as the energy sucked out all of the warmth. My eyes turned black as coal and my body did too for a brief moment. I stretched out my body, the energy flowing outwards. In an instant the church was incinerated. Not a trace of it, or anyone inside were left except for me and my uncle.

"Good work my boy!" He said flying over towards me and giving me a pat on the back. I smiled back and we embraced. "Let's get back home before-" he stopped. In the distance there was a figure that looked to be as tall as he was. Only this figure was much brighter and had a warm aura. "… Gabriel arrives." He trailed off in a low whisper.

"Step away from the young boy Sa'fiel! He's ours!" Gabriel commanded, drawing out his sword.

"You'll have to take him from my cold. Dead. Hands!" Sa'fiel shouted, his hands shaking with rage. Turning towards me he said "stay hear Ni'hil. I'll handle this infidel." He whispered. I nodded sheepishly. Turing back towards the archangel he cracked his knuckles and walked with a swagger towards the enemy. I didn't make out what he said, but I saw a huge black aura burst out around him as he got in a fighting stance. Gabriel backed away and started to power up himself; being surrounded by a white aura. I made sure to really concentrate on the battle only, blocking out any other ambient noise. After my uncle was down powering up he charged over at the angel, making a clear crisp strike with his leg that connected to Gabriel's thigh. Gabriel winced and yelled as the kick made contact. After a few moments he straightened himself out and spread his pearly white wings and launched himself.

His sword made contact with my uncle's left shoulder and he fell down in a heap of pain, crying out in agony. I could see water start to form from his eyes. My eyes grew wide in shock as Gabriel was about to deliver a crucial blow. I gathered my ki in my stomach and powerfully launched myself towards Gabriel with all intent to kill. I pulled out my lightsaber, igniting it and swung wildly at him, missing every swing.

"So is this how they train young demons now days? Humph, I'm hardly surprised." He said in a highly pitched tone while wagging his index finger in front of me.

"You're just lucky because I'm just warming up!" I growled, hate flowing through every word. I swung again this time our blades collided. I could feel the energy bounce off of our collisions. It was like electricity was flowing through my body every time our blades struck. I missed my swing again, and this time Gabriel flew upwards.

"Come now young warrior. This is where you can show me your real strength." Gabriel said, holding out a hand. I felt the hand was mocking me as if to say that I'm not good enough. That I'm never going to be good enough. I yelled and felt a powerful surge as I charged at him once more. My blade connected with his and we were locked in battle once again, this time in the air. I noticed that it felt weightless while flying which made for easier mobility. It was like your soul was being cleaned each time you flew. We clashed again and I noticed that he had dropped his guard. My eyes gleamed with anticipation as I moved in for the killing blow, landing the blade deep in the angel's shoulder blade. As I was cutting through I could hear a small chuckle come from him. "Boy, you have a long ways to go." I saw a sickening grin form as he dropped his own sword and charged up his fist. The next thing I knew was that I had a decent sized hole in the side of my chest. I fell like a feather that was caught in the wind and made a soft thud when I hit the ground. I had landed next to my uncle who wasn't in the best shape either. His shoulder was bleeding out badly and he was trying to patch up the gash with his other hand. I could barely move a muscle, my ki was drained the moment the energy beam hit my chest. The archangel moved over to me, his shadow covering my body. I tried to find the strength to speak but hardly anything was able to come out of my mouth. All I could do was call him a bastard.

"Silly demon. Did you really think that you could defeat the Master of Angels? I thought not." He shook his head while putting his hands on his hips. Picking up his sword, he gave me a fake salute and flew off, not looking back. I again turned to my uncle who staggered over to me. He knelt down beside me.

"I've paged for help. They should be here within a couple of minutes. Why don't you just give in to the weakness and pass out. The time will go by much faster." He said in a whisper. I don't know if I had heard him correctly but his tone sounded different. It was if his pride had been ripped out of him during that fight. I sheepishly nodded my head and gave in, my vision turning to black.
