"You're such an idiot."

"Ya well, this idiot just saved your life. Again." He smirked despite his skull's excessive bleeding.

"I didn't need your help. I would've been perfectly fine if you hadn't butted in." She was trying to sound harsh, but he could tell she was speaking halfheartedly—he'd known her long enough to distinguish.

"Well I saved your life, and now you're saving mine. So we're even." She didn't respond after that, and he decided to keep the comfortable silence.

Getting healed like this, just his head on her lap with his eyes closed as the rain fell, reminded him of the days when they had just met. Everything was so simple back then; she had relied on him to fight, and he had relied on her to heal and guide him. After she had been taken to Soul Society, and Inoue became the main healer of the group, Ichigo had forgotten how calm her reiatsu made him feel.

"What are you smiling about?"

"Heh, I was just thinking about how nice it is to get healed by you."

Through the hazy mist Rukia's face begrudgingly lit up pink. He must by hallucinating due to blood loss, she thought.

Author's Notes:

Well here's my first published story! This was more like a writing exercise/warm up for me rather than an actual story. My goal was to make it exactly 200 words, which I succeeded in doing, and strangely enough it was a lot easier than I expected. Next time I'll try 100 words. So I hope you liked it! I know there are many issues with it, but like I said, this is just a warm up, but constructive criticism and reviews are loved! I'll be publishing something much longer with a lot more writing technique hopefully in the near future. Damn I hope they're in character for this o.o
