DISCLAIMER: I do not own anything related to CSI: NY.
A/N: Yes, I'm not a fan of DnA but I was filling out a fanfic request for a friend and she wanted a Flack fanfic but since I had writer's block with it, I decided to write a DnA one for her instead since she's a huge DnA fan.
Danny could not believe it. No, he just can't. It must have been a mistake or something. Aiden is not the woman that got burnt in the car. No, it's not her. He just met her the other day and they were going to go out for dinner.
That's why Danny was in the locker room, staring at the empty ceiling. His eyes trailed over to Aiden's empty locker. He got up and touched it lightly with the palm of his hand. He knew she was gone yet he still feels as if she was here with him.
He heard footsteps coming from behind him and saw Stella standing behind him, a look of sympathy on her face.
"You loved her, didn't you?" she said.
Danny nodded weakly.
"It was that obvious, huh?"
"Please, everyone could see that the two of you two were in love with each other."
"Does Mac know?"
"He does. You know Mac; he doesn't miss a thing."
Danny smiled weakly and looked back at Aiden's locker.
"I miss her,".
"We all do," she said, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"I don't understand. Why should she of all people turn out like this? What has she done to deserve this?"
"I don't know; maybe it just sort of happened, you know?"
"But it just isn't fair."
"Nothing's fair in this world, Danny. You have to remember that. There's nothing we can do about it so we'll just have to accept everything that has happened."
"Yeah."
She looked at him and she enveloped him in a hug. Danny hugged her back. He was glad that Stella was there with him; her hug was warm and motherly.
"It's alright, Danny," she said soothingly to him. "We're all here for you."
Danny buried his face in her shoulder and nodded. After a few minutes he pulled away from her.
"Thanks, Stella."
"You're welcome. Hey, the others and I are going down to the pub to just talk about Aiden and reminisce about the good old days. Coming?"
"Sure, I'd love to," he said, smiling.
"Want me to go with you?"
"Nah, it's alright. I'll meet you there soon."
"Alright."
With that she walked off, her footsteps disappearing with each step. He turned back to Aiden's empty locker. He touched it again with his hand.
"Goodbye my lover," he muttered softly.
Blinking away the tears from his eyes, he put on his jacket and walked out of the room, closing the doors behind him.
