Unrequited Love 143

XxXxX

It was a beautiful sunny day,

Despite the chills of winter in the air.

I saw him in the corner of my eye

And ran towards him like a cheetah after its prey.

I was vicious yet graceful while tackling him to the ground.

He smiled up at me with those midnight blue eyes and hair,

He sat up laughing while I turned beet red.

We walked hand-in hand towards 'our tree'

And sat down on the hill of snow

While lost in our thoughts,

We were wishing of whimsical worlds.

The class bell rang and we got up slowly not wanting to leave

He stopped me and stared into my honey golden eyes

He said "I love you like fish loves water or as a…"

I stopped him with my lips as we kissed silently.

We pull away reluctantly startled by an ear piercing scream

I ran ahead leaving him behind, the scream sounded vaguely familiar.

I saw a man looming over Rima

With a dagger over her still heart

I stared silently with my eyes open wide

It seemed like my friend was already as good as dead

Then he whipped a gun out from his pocket,

Pointing it towards me I was a statue unable to move.

A click of the gun and my own thoughts screamed at me.

The insanity of hell from within.

Crimson blood splattered everywhere

I thought I was dead but felt no pain.

That's when I saw him smile at me as he crumpled to the ground

The world flew in fast forward

Police barged in,

The killer tried to run,

He slumped to the ground,

I fell on my knees crying

As my tear streaked face showed no emotions.

I held him in my arms as his hand caressed my face

He was trying to comfort me I realized

When it should have been the other way around.

I whispered one last "I love you"

And he collapsed in my arms quietly.

That was eight years ago

Now as I step up to go and make my wedding toast

My mind musters several maddening memories

Due to the death of the thing I cared for the most;

My articulated thoughts and my very own being.
