A/N: Can this be considered romance? Not sure. Lmao.

"Look, isn't this cute?"
Selphie pressed a delicate finger on the frigid glass, inclining her head to face the brunette before grabbing hold of her wrist, pulling the other closer to the window frame. There was a brilliant gleam to her emerald hues, and it made the girl slightly curious as to what got her friend so excited.
Bending down, Rinoa caught glimpse of the most vivid shade of crimson she had ever encountered. Although surrounded by others of great splendor, none could compare to the one her friend pointed to. She found herself nodding in agreement, causing a wave of giggles to emanate from her companion.
"I bet it'd look good on you," Selphie said with absolute certainty, earning her a light punch on the shoulder. Both laughed. "What? It's true!"
She wondered about that, but didn't say anything. Any words that left her mouth were going to be twisted into Selphie's liking, anyway.
Or maybe not.
"It's really pretty," she chuckled, "but maybe it isn't for me? I mean, red really isn't my color… blue suits me better, don't you think?"
"But you're already wearing blue!" the other countered.
"I have my preferences, like you have with trains," she said, smirking. Why was Selphie so bent on getting her to like the ring, in the first place? Didn't Rinoa already own a couple? She watched as chestnut brown hair bounced as her friend nodded, acknowledging the given information. "If you like it so much, why don't you buy it?"
Rinoa waited for a comeback, something witty, she hoped, but nothing came. Eyeing the girl suspiciously, she noticed that her friend had been staring at her pendant for a while now.
His ring. The reason for her indifference regarding various jewelries might have been because she already had the perfect ring. And no, it wasn't the most feminine one either—no fancy stones, no flowers or anything like that. In fact, it was the exact opposite, the manliest ring in the world, to her.
A small smile traced her lips; she clutched the pendant, the steel chain tickling her collar bone.
Instead of flowers or hearts, etched in its steel frame was a majestic looking beast, bearing its intimidating fangs. It bore no shade of pink, yellow, or any other hue at all, just a simple tone of gray. Nothing fancy, as said. Just a simple ring.
A ring full of meaning.
Several times had the simple act of clutching it, or even looking at it, gave her strength. It filled her with hope when there appeared to be none left, shed light into her darkened world. It bore the symbols of her earlier trials, not just her own, but her friends', as well, and even though she thought it best that the ring stayed underneath his leather gloves, she let out a sigh of relief when he refused to have it back. In a sense, it was a symbol of their bond—of their promise.
No necklace, no ruby ring, can top that.
"You know what?" Selphie said, shattering the silence with an endearing smile. "Never mind."
