A/N: This is just a one-shot based off of a picture I saw on Facebook of James Sirius and the portraits of Snape and Dumbledore. Please, no hate. Hate will be used to make Dementors.

Namesakes

James Sirius Potter was lost.

His first term at Hogwarts had come to a close, and he had just returned from Christmas break.

Peeves decided it would be fun to prank the first year and send him down the wrong flights of stairs, and he ended up in an old hallway of headmaster portraits.

Two in particular caught his attention.

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore and Severus Tobias Snape.

He took a minute just to stare at the two men, astonished.

The silver of Albus' beard glinted in the dim light James' wand cast over the dark hall.

The black of Severus' eyes glinted like pure obsydian.

'Oh look, another Potter. I hope this one won't be as arrogant as his father or grandfather.' the portrait Snape sneered.

'Now Severus, calm down.' portrait Albus said.

'No. I have a bad track record with Potters, and this one will probably be as lazy, arrogant and immature as the last two.' Snape muttered. James took a minute to collect his thoughts and produced one sentance.

'So the namesake of my younger brother hated my dad?' he mused aloud, causing portrait Snape to stop sputtering incoherant nonsense.

'Could you speak up, dear boy? Portraits cannot understand muttering.' Albus inquired.

'Sorry. I was just thinking of how the man, the bravest man my father said he knew, was a coward, and a bully, hiding behind a facade of emotionless terror because of something my grandfather did nearly fifty years ago.' James explained. Portrait Snape was at a loss for words. He was the bravest man Harry Potter ever knew?

'A coward? Oh dear, you must be mistaken. Severus was not a coward. Yes, he disliked your father, but it was for a more personal reason.' Albus stated.

'And, may I inquire, what is your younger brother's name, young Potter?' Snape asked.

'Albus Severus Potter.' James whispered, letting the spaces between the words elongate and leave silent tension in the air.

'My father said he was named after two headmasters of Hogwarts. A Gryffindor, the wisest man he ever knew, Albus Dumbledore, and a Slytherin, the bravest man he ever knew, Severus Snape. He told us they both died during the Dark Lord's reign.' James continued. Portrait Severus looked absolutly taken aback. Harry Potter said that about him.

'Well, I have to go before Filch feeds me to Mrs. Norris.' James said, walking back down the hallway, hoping apon hope to find Gryffindor tower.

A/N: What do you think? Have any of you seen the movie Dogma, with Alan Rickman in it? I wouldn't recomend it to anyone under thirteen though, because Jay likes to swear.
