Albus had a plan. When it first came to his mind, he thought it was a very good plan. At the thought of the endgame, he was sure it was an amazing plan. He was tired of his sister getting all the attention from their mum. James was off to school, so he didn't have to worry about him. It was just Lily Luna standing in his way.
"You know, Lils," he said as he was planted on the floor with his miniature broom and enchanted figures. Both he and Lily Luna were in the playroom alone, so he felt it was the perfect opportunity. "Mum really likes it when you cry and beat the floor."
Lily Luna was laying on her stomach, swishing her teddy bear back and forth. Her wide, green eyes stared at him curiously.
"Hm?" she questioned with a hum.
Albus nodded. "It's true. She said so to Dad. If you cry a lot and beat the floor, she'll have a better day." He paused and gave her a look. "You do want Mum to have a better, right? She's been so sad lately since the Quidditch season is over..."
Lily Luna frowned slightly as if in thought. "I guess so…" she trailed off, her voice soft.
Albus smiled. "Trust me, Lils, you'll be doing Mum a favour."
To his mum, Lily Luna was the perfect daughter that gained all her hugs and kisses. Albus used to get her hugs and kisses before Lily Luna came along. He'd bid his time long enough; it was time for action.
His plan? What better way to show that he deserved the attention than to have Lily Luna show how imperfect she was. It's foolproof!
It'd been a day since he lied to Lily Luna, and she hadn't done what he said. It wasn't until lunchtime did he see his plan in action. He'd peeked into the kitchen at just the right time.
Their mum was at the table preparing lunch with a few spells Nana Molly taught her. Lily Luna tugged in their mum's robes, jumping up and down and crying. Their mum tried to soothe Lily Luna, but Lily only got louder. It took Lily to beat on the floor for their mum to put her wand down and pick Lily Luna up.
"You know you're not supposed to act this way, young lady," Ginny said. "We behave like good witches, and you're not being a good witch."
Lily Luna pouted, eyes filling with real tears. "I was trying to make your day better! Albus said it would work!"
Albus froze in his spot. No, his plan was failing.
Ginny frowned. "I'll have to have a talk with your brother, but until then, know that changing from that sweet girl I adore and throwing tantrums will not make me feel better."
Lily placed her head in the crook of Ginny's neck. "Yes, Mummy."
His plan did not work at all. Albus scurried away from his peeping spot and huffed against the wall once he thought he was far enough. He'd have to come up with another plan.
"Albus Severus Potter! I need to have a word with you!"
This was not the attention he was seeking. Abort!
