Dante and Vergil had shared bed all their life, so they saw nothing bad in it. While they were still babies people had thought it was adorable, but as years passed they began to get odd looks. They got separate beds when they were around eight years old, but that didn't bother them; other one would just sneak into bed of the other.

One day Eva had brought up the subject. She said that big boys didn't sleep together and when Dante had asked why, she had said, "it's just the way it is."

It had bugged Dante a lot. Why were there things that were bad for no reason? He wasn't interested of following rules like that… He had asked father, but he had only told him to do as Eva said. He had been thinking about what Sparda had said, but only thing that he realised was that even he didn't know why.

Vergil, being the smarter one, realised it wasn't simple so he decided to do as he was told – at least until he would understand himself. He tried to keep Dante from crawling under his blanket, knowing Eva would be angry if they would be caught doing something they had been told not to do.

At first Dante felt rejected, he even refused talking to Vergil for one whole day. After he got tired of sulking he tried to come up with a plan, but every time Vergil would notice him and send him away.

Then one night Dante walked over his twin's bed again. This time, he was gripping his pillow in one hand and rubbing his watery, red eyes with back of his other one. He shaked Vergil awake and whimpered as pitifully he could "I had a nightmare…"

It was the first time Dante lied.
