A long time ago, the kingdom of Hyrule once flourished across the far corners of the land. With its people living amidst such a peaceful utopia, sharing their home with the likes of the Goron, Zora and other tribes, its reign lasted for what felt like eternity. The reason for this neverending peace was because of its protectors, the Hero and Princess who each weld a piece of the Tri-Force. However, not all were so happy with the way things were in Hyrule as a villainous sorcerer known as Ganondorf, who also wielded a piece of the Tri-Force, was reincarnated throughout Hyrulian history to conquer the kingdom and seize the remaining Tri-Force for himself.

This battle between the Tri-Force wielders went on for what also felt like an eternity as each time Ganondorf was slain, his hatred would resurrect the monstrous beast. But, as Hyrule's everlasting peace finally reached its end, so apparently did the three wielders of the Tri-Force….disappearing from the pages of history…

Chapter 01: Awakening of the Hero

~ Village of Camdyn ~

Late one day, in the the modern day Camdyn Village, we find a young, blonde haired teenage boy walking through the village carrying a bag of goods on his back. He wore a simple green, short sleeved top with long tan pants. This boy's name was Link, a local resident of Camdyn Village. He continued down the walkways throughout the village before coming upon a simple little cottage on the outskirts of town, placed nicely by the river that flowed through the village. He stopped at the door before dropping the bag right outside and giving a knock.

"Is that you, Link, dearie? Did you get everything I asked you to get from the market?" a woman's voice asked. Link merely nodded with a huff before turning away and walked off with his hands tucked in his pants pocket. But before he could go anywhere else, he was stopped when the woman from within peeked her head outside the door. This autumn haired woman with braided hair was Link's mother.

"And just WHERE are you going young man?" she asked. Link glared over his shoulder before giving a huff.

"You know it's late dearie and I don't want you walking outside when its dark out. So come on inside and help me prepare dinner." she said. But Link said no more and continued walking. His mother sighed before picking up the bag Link left at the door.

"That son of mine….ever the silent little rebel. I wish this streak of his would break soon." she muttered. Link walked alone through the village streets again as he glanced around at the other villagers surrounding him. He lightly sighed to himself.

"Mom wants me to break my rebellious habits….I know. But how can I….when your dad pretty much abandoned you as a child? Never showing you what this world truly was?"

As he walked, he eventually went down towards the river edge and stopped, seating himself by the water. He took off his sandals before sticking his feet into the water. The cool sensation swept over between his toes as he watched the fish in the river swim by or stop to stare at his feet. He then stared out at the fields on the opposite side of the river, letting out a depressed sigh. But unbeknownst to him, he was being watched by a passerby, a girl with long flowing hair topped with a beret on her head. She came to a stop just behind Link.

"Enjoying the foot soak there, Link?" she asked "Careful your stinky feet don't scare away the fish." Looking over his shoulder, Link saw the face of young girl looking at him.

"Oh. Hey Zelda." he said. Zelda smiled before seating herself by his side, setting her pocket bag by her side.

"So….what's on your mind today? Thinking about your dad?" she asked. Link remained silent as his attention turned to his reflection in the stream.

"Maybe." he softly muttered. Tucking her legs in, Zelda faced Link.

"Link….I know its hard…not having both your parents around. I'm in the same boat…living without my mother. But…maybe its time you let it go? No one knows what happened to your dad the day he left the village. But, even if he's gone, I'm sure he'd want you to stop brooding on the past and try to enjoy life." she said. Link glared at her.

"Hmph. I know you've told me this countless times before, but I just can't shake the feeling he's out there…somewhere. I'm not going to stop until the day I see his smug face again. He left mom and I to fend for ourselves. I won't give up until I get my answer." he said. Zelda sighed before standing back up again.

"Whatever you say, Link. But…try to at least SMILE more? Or do you want the nickname of "Brooding Link" to be your identity for the rest of your life?" she asked. Link huffed before Zelda lightly glanced away.

"Anyway, see you around." she said before walking away.

~ Later That Night… ~

As night soon fell over Camdyn Village, we rejoin Link as he is laying on his bed with arms tucked behind his head and legs crossed. He stared up at the ceiling, watching as the fan blades above him gently spun around in a clockwise circle. Closing his eyes for a moment, he tried to imagine the look on his father's face. However, he could not seem to make anything appear as his father's voice echoed in his head.

"Don't worry Link. Your dad just has some business to take care of. Once its done, I'll come home. Okay?"

Opening his eyes, Link sighed.

"Sheesh dad. You sure know how to take your sweet time. What's taking you so long to finish?" he muttered. Looking around the room, he looked at a wooden sword and shield tucked away by his desk. Without a word, he climbed out of bed and went for his sword, picking it up and taking a couple good swings. He simply stared at it afterwards.

"You promised you would teach me some swordplay. But, here it is….collecting dust." he thought. Looking on at the sword, Link slowly closed his eyes. But as he did, he soon heard what sounded like a wolf's howling coming from nearby. The sound quickly opened Link's eyes as he turned around, looking back at the window by his bed.

"A wolf? What's a wolf doing this close to the village? It better not be coming to pick on the flock." he said "I'd probably take a look." Glancing at his door, Link picked up his shield and tucked both on his back before climbing out his window. He looked back once more before taking off.

"I'll be back before mom even knows I'm gone." he thought. Hurrying through the tall grass, he made his way towards the outskirts of the village.

~ Camdyn Farm Fields ~

Arriving at the fields just outside his village, he took to a nearby tree to observe what was happening. From the tree branches, he reached into his pocket to take out a small telescope and put it up to his left eye. He extended it as far as possible to see what appeared to be a glowing white wolf waltzing its way through the tall grass. Strangest thing of all was that the nearby sheep did not seem to even notice the creature's presence. It was as if the wolf was nothing but a ghost.

"Huh? Am I….seeing things? Or is that wolf…glowing?" he muttered. He looked closer at the wolf, which slowly came to a stop before seating itself in the grass. It took a look around before letting out another howl.

"Is it calling for someone? Maybe another of its pack will show up." he thought. He leaned over some more to get a better look, making the branch beneath him creak slightly. From his telescope, the wolf suddenly turned in his direction, catching Link's attention.

"Oh crap! It must've heard me!" he thought. He quickly tucked the telescope away before turning back, surprised when the wolf was now floating inches from his face. The shock threw Link out of the tree and onto the grass below.

"D'ow! That's smarts!" he muttered. But before he had time to stand back up, the wolf suddenly appeared once more in front of him. Link gasped, looking the beast straight in its luminescent blue eyes.

"W-What do you want? How'd you get over here so fast?" he asked. As wind gently blew by, both Link and the wolf remained frozen in time, unable to take their eyes off each other. Suddenly, its eyes began glowing brightly as Link's right hand started to shine. Noticing the light, Link quickly looked towards his hand, bringing the back of his hand up to his face to see a glowing triangle taking shape on his hand.

"W-What in the….?!" he yelped, grasping his hand out of fear. He then looked back to the wolf.

"D-Did you do this?" he asked. The wolf remained motionless. Suddenly, Link gasped again when he heard a voice echoing inside his head.

"Wielder of the Tri-Force of Courage….heed my words…."

However, before the voice could say more, a lone shadow arrow came from the nearby bushes and struck the wolf's shining body. It howled in pain before falling over, causing Link to gasp. Before the beast hit the ground, he grasped it within his arms.

"H-Hey! Are you okay?!" he asked. The wolf's luminescent light began to fade as it directed Link's attention in the direction of the fired arrow. Bushes and trees nearby started to shake as the sheep started to flee in fear, bleating as they rushed past Link and the wolf.

"W-What the…?" he muttered. The wolf gently moved its head.

"He approaches….the spirit of the Evil One…."

Link's eyes remained petrified as he gently set the wolf down, cowardly reaching for the shield and sword on his back. Just then, he heard a deep, menacing growl echo as red eyes flashed from the shadows from deeper in the woods. What followed was a colossal creature that appeared to be a mutant warthog-like creature, stomping its way out of the wood and standing tall. It surveyed the field before it spotted Link and the wolf.

"There you are…HERO." it muttered, narrowing its eyes. He gasped before the monster suddenly crouched down before it came charging at him. But rather than run, Link merely stood cowarding in fear.
