Chapter 1

A Hero's Last Words

"You're a victim of your own mind…"

Navi's un-fathomed advice repeated itself inside Link's head. He watched his opponent, or rather; 'reflection' imitate his every move. Yet, there were moments when it seemed that the 'Other Link' had a mind of his own. When Link would meet him with a fore swing, it would parry. When Link would thrust, it would back flip.

"How could I defeat my own reflection without killing myself?"

This was a question Link had asked himself when his battle with the dark entity began. Maybe running around in circles while slashing the sword will help. It helped when he fought Volvagia. Wait, no, it didn't. It was always possible to construct a simple plan to defeat dungeon bosses or mini-bosses. But in a melee with Dark Link, planning almost sounds impossible. Almost.

There were some things Link had which Dark Link didn't. The list included Navi, items, techniques blessed on him by the fountain fairies and most importantly; the Triforce of Courage.

"Try freezing him with your Deku Nuts when he is off guard…" Navi whispered into Link's ear. Without responding, Link began to carry it out. The Dark entity was hardly off guard, always ready to make a move.

But then again, the tree in the middle could help. Link around it in circles, hoping that it would confuse his enemy. And… it worked; almost worked.

He managed to confuse his enemy, but that didn't mean he was off guard. The Dark being was watching. When Link grabbed the Deku Nut from his pocket, the almost silent sound gave him away. His own trick was repelled back to him. Like a reflection.

When Link threw the Deku Nut at him, his opponent used his shield and thrust the Deku Nut back at him, which froze the Hero in place. Without any hesitation, the Dark Link grabbed away the one thing no one else other than a hero could; the Master Sword.

Immediately after the hero returned back to his consciousness, it began to fade away once again. Why? Because the blade he once held now pierced through his chest.

"Why?" Link pleaded desperately to his shadow, "Why would you do this? As we are intertwined with each other, you will die along with me."

"Unless I have broken the streak that once held us together…"

At this response, Link looked up to his killer. "But even in death, I will never let your filthy hands touch the Triforce, the land of Hyrule and most of all…" and then with his last breath, Link delivered his final words:

"Her highness, Zelda…"

The silence was terrible. The hero was dead. Hope was lost. But his final words survived on the wind's breath. Among all this, Dark Link was so lost in his freedom and glory, that he didn't notice the fairy that flew out of the room.

A/N - FanFictions are stressful. Out of the all the billions I have written, this is the only one I could publish. Please leave some reviews because a girl cannot get any where without a little bit opinion from y'all readers. Thanks 3
