This is basically just plotless mckirk fluff oops sorry not sorry

Jim wakes up with his head on Leonard's chest, the older man's arms wrapped around him. He immediately smiled. This was the perfect way to wake up. The sunlight was filtering into the inside of their dorm through the window next to Len's bed. The sunlight hit half of Jim's body and it made Jim feel nice and warm. Jim stays like that, lying on his lover's chest, listening to the rhythmic sound of his soft snores.

After a while, Leonard wakes up. He looks down at Jim, who looks back and smiles. Len returns the smile sleepily. Jim crawls up a little so he's head to head with him and begins to press soft kisses to his face. His forehead first, then his temples, eyes, nose and cheeks until Jim's at Len's lips and Len is the one to gently lift his head and kiss Jim.

They both smile into the kiss. Jim pulls away to laugh because this is what Len makes him feel. Len makes him happier than he ever thought he could be and he just laughs because he never ever wants this morning to end.

Leonard nudges Jim's forehead with his and chuckles. Jim nudges back and they kiss again. Jim intends to make this kiss longer, maybe try to initiate some morning sex or something like that, but he can't stop giggling. He pulls away again and rests his forehead against Len's, who gives him a questioning look at first then smiles because, how couldn't he? Here he was, at Starfleet Academy, of all places. He hated space, yet he was still here all because his wife has taken just about everything in their divorce.

And yet, if that hadn't happened, he would've never met Jim. Jim, whose smile brightens up even the darkest of days. Jim, whose laugh could probably out-charm a siren's. Jim, the man Leonard loved more than everything in the universe. Jim stops laughing but his smile is still there. He pecks Len on the lips before greeting:

"Good morning,"

To which Len replies:

"G'morning."

And they both just laugh because in all their life, they had never thought they'd be so happy and content. They spend about an hour in bed before Leonard pushes Jim off because "Dammit Jim, I have an exam today!" although they both know that Len would rather stay in bed than take it.
