Fire by the Lake, A Short Story
The full moon was out; the constellations seemed as bright as ever that night. The lake had a peaceful aura at night, even the giant squid seem harmonious as it quietly floated among the reflections of the stars. A small spark ignited, and soon enough a flame flickered on the grass. It was Seamus, his speciality with fire finally came to use, as he settled down on the grass overlooking the lake. There he sat in silence, until a quiet chatter appeared from behind the trees, Seamus briskly turned around, to see what he had hoped to see. Stood under a willow, beautifully illuminated, was Jennie, and to his surprise Ginny and Hermione too.
The girls gracefully seated upon the grass, Jennie stared at the moon, "It's so beautiful." she quietly spoke, "6 years at Hogwarts, but I've never seen a night quite so beautiful as this." Hermione nodded in agreement, "The full moon has so many magical qualities, there's no surprise it seems so special…" A small laughter arose among the gang "We just learnt it in…" protested Hermione. "Typical Hermione, you need to lighten up a bit!" laughed Ginny. Offended Hermione stood up, and stormed towards the edge of the lake, with Ginny, still laughing, following shortly behind her.
"You're lucky you know Jennie." Whispered Seamus. Slightly surprised, Jennie moved towards Seamus, with a questionable tone to her voice, she asked "What do you mean?" Seamus looked her in the eyes, the breeze in the air waved Jennie's hair about, but he didn't care, "You have friends, you have the looks, the smarts, the humour, you have basically everything." He replied. Jennie stared for a while, "Bu-but…" she stumbled, "You have friends too, you're popular, you unbelievably funny, what more could you want?" Seamus leaned in, he eyes level with Jennie's, their breath close enough to mix together. "I want you" whispered Seamus, as he gently kissed Jennie.
"I TOLD YOU!" exclaimed Ginny. Hermione turned around, "I guess I owe you a galleon, eh" she giggled. The girls walked back to the slightly embarrassed Jennie and Seamus, and once again sat down beside them. Jennie look up at the moon, as she remember her past 6 years at Hogwarts, "You're right Seamus" she smiled, with a tear forming in her eye as she looked at her friends, "I am lucky."
