AN: Although I'd love to own Legend of Korra, I sadly don't. I'll just write fanfiction instead.
"You are the least spiritual avatar, and you're trying to make me meditate?"
Korra glared at the man who asked her such an arrogant question. The pair was on the beach of Air Temple Island, listening to the waves lap up against the sand as the crescent moon provided them with a small amount of light. Many of the stars that could be seen in the Southern Water Tribe were overshadowed by the lights coming from the mainland of Republic City. "I was hoping that maybe meditation will help you get your bending back," the avatar answered.
The ex-waterbender laughed. "Uhvatar, do you even know how connected I was to nature in the past?"
"What?"
"I used to live in the Foggy Swamp. It was a simple life where pants weren't necessary and nature enveloped us. And in the middle of the swamp is this beautiful tree that started it all. I only saw the actual tree once though, because what I saw while I was there made me leave."
"What did you see?" Her curious gaze penetrated him, letting him know that her full attention was on the story he was telling.
"Even before I knew about Republic City or pro-bending, I always thought I didn't belong there. I only figured it out when I wandered off by myself one day and I found the base of the tree. The tree makes you see weird things. It's known for its hallucinations and can show you anything out of your past or your future. If you stay there for a while you can even gain enlightenment. Ten minutes was all I needed. I thought I heard the roar of the crowd. It felt welcoming. I felt as if there were thousands of eyes on me, but I only actually saw one pair."
"Whose were they?"
"I don't know, but they remind me of yours."
Neither of them says a word as they held their steady gaze, unsure of who was going to break first. In the end Tahno was the one to look away as he stood. Instead of leaving like she thinks he was, he removed his clothing.
"What are you doing?" she asked loudly, unable to look away from his bare chest.
"I'm going for a swim, Uhvatar."
"But, it's cold."
He steps into Yue Bay, shivering at the contact. "You got that right," he says, but he continues walking in until the water is up to his waist. "Come on in, the water's fine!"
"No."
"It would be nice if the Uhvatar could possibly heat up this water here. We can't all be used to freezing water like you, Little Girl."
She stood up abruptly saying something along the lines of "you deserve it for going in there" but stripped down to her bindings anyway, eliciting the biggest smile from the ex-Wolfbat. Shivers rippled through her body when she entered the water and continued even when she was next to Tahno.
"You know, I really didn't think you would go through with that."
"Shut up." Instead of freezing the water around him like she thought of doing, she tried to use firebending to warm the water up.
"I had something different in mind when I said heating things up."
She looked up to meet his stare. "Like what?"
Tahno didn't respond with words. He just kissed her full on the mouth roughly. Korra moaned into the kiss, allowing him to slip his tongue into her mouth, searching for hers. One of his hands gripped her waist, pulling him towards her while his other hand cradled the back of her head. As the kiss became heavier, Korra tangled her fingers in his hair just to make sure she could still stand; her buckling knees caused her to be afraid of falling. When they finally broke away from each other, Tahno examined her eyes again, as if he was looking right into her soul through them.
"The more I look at them, the more I think that the swamp was really showing me you."
