Short summary: How Lois copes with her mothers death, and how Chloe became the shoulder she could lean on.
Note: Wow, I'm just writing all kinds of depressing drabbles...is that a sign? Should I get therapy? Is it because I'm single? IS IT BECAUSE I HAVE A CAT? Ahem, that was too much for you to know. By the way, I dont' have a cat. The stupid college wont let me, but I have one back at my moms place. I have a hamster though. His name is Tiny Tim. Or Tim for short. Uhm, yeah. Hope this tears your heart apart---I mean pleases you.
Young Lois Lane tapped her foot on the ground as she sat on the porch of her house, looking into her lap. She wouldn't dare let a tear fall, she didn't want to look weak. Especially in front of her little sister, who was asleep in Lois' bed at the moment. Lois had let her sleep in her bed with her, but she silently climbed out of bed in the morning.
Lois didn't want to admit it, but her mothers sudden death was tearing her apart. She was just acting strong so she could help Lucy through this rough time. But what made it all that much harder was that her Aunt Moira had been admitted to a mental institution and she had to promise to her aunt she wouldn't tell Chloe. This was beginning to be too much.
Lois looked up when she heard footsteps, wiping away at the tears what formed in her eyes and blinking quickly. She looked up to meet a small blond in a denim dress with red eyes. Lois' lip trembled at the sight of her cousin.
"Chloe.." Lois whispered, opening her arms for her little cousin. Chloe let out a loud sob and threw herself into Lois, clutching onto her tightly. Lois closed her eyes and set a hand on the back of her short blond hair, letting a tear fall from her eye.
Still, Lois didn't want to cry, and she couldn't in front of Lucy. But she could in front of Chloe, Chloe understood all too well what she was going through. Lucy had pictured Lois as an indestructible army brat, but Chloe had seen the other side of her.
Chloe looked up at her cousin and sat down on the porch next to her, both arms around Lois' waist. Chloe leaned her head against Lois' shoulder, sadly and Lois rested her head on Chloe's.
Lois knew Chloe would always understand.
