Disclaimer: I don't own the characters of Twilight, I just write about them.

This poem is based on Edward's thoughts behind deserting Bella in the beginning of New Moon. I think it's very interesting how he sees himself in a completely different light than Bella and the rest of us see him. While we see a Godly hot vampire, he sees a soulless monster. I tried to capture that side of him here.

Monster

Monster. Freak. Nature's error –

I plague the earth, a walking terror

I never deserved someone like you

You don't deserve the all pain I put you through

Perhaps it'd be best if I wasn't here

Putting you in danger, bringing you fear

Maybe I never should have given in

Never have sucked you into my world of sin

I won't force you into a life of dark and cold

I can't let you risk your immortal soul

For a monster such as me

No matter how I look at it, I don't belong

My manner of survival is simply wrong

It's murder I commit each time I feed

Others must die for my most basic need

Even humans on the street sense my danger

And know better that to approach this lovely stranger

But Fate would have you deviate from the rest

Putting my control to the ultimate test

So that is why I must set you free

Back into your world of normalcy

Where monsters don't exist

- A New Moon poem

Please review and let me know what you think. Constructive criticism would help a lot. Also, I'm having difficulty coming up with new poems so if you have any suggestions for future themes, I would be glad to hear them. Thanks!!
