Author's note: Well, this story is based on my interpretation of the
relationship between Frodo
and Sam. I always thought that there was more going on than we were shown. Anyhoo, I think their story is one of the greatest love stories of all time (well, that might be a reach for a lot of people but that's just MY humble opinion). By the way, I didn't invent these characters, they're not mine, so don't sue me. Oh yeah, please write a review. I want to know if maybe I should write more of these things.
The following takes place on the stairs of Cirith Ungol…
Frodo and Sam finally collapsed on the stairs, exhausted from the long climb. They lay there,
saying nothing for quite awhile. Gollum had meanwhile sneaked away, on some unknown
mission.
Finally, Sam spoke. "Would you like some water, Mr. Frodo?"
"I would Sam, but I don't think we have much left, and I'd hate to take away from your fair
share."
"Never mind about me, Mr. Frodo. You need it more than I do, since you're the one this all
depends on."
"Thanks Sam. I don't know what I'd do without you"
Frodo drank from the bottle, slowly, then lay back down. Things were once again silent.
"When will this ever end, Sam?", Frodo said suddenly. "I don't think I can stand it much
longer. I feel so drained… and the ring…" Frodo had begun to weep. "The ring… it's taking it's
toll."
Sam felt stabbed by Frodo's pain. He loved his master more than anything in the world, and to
see him hurting was more than he could bear. He knelt down by Frodo, and took his hand.
"Don't you worry Mr. Frodo. Old Sam is here for you. And as long as I'm around, I won't let
nothing happen to you.
Sam gently wiped Frodo's tears.
"Sam, if it weren't for you, I don't think I'd be able to go on. I wouldn't have made it this far.
You're always there for me Sam. You have no idea how much that means to me."
Sam turned bright red and said nothing. He turned and looked deep into Frodo's eyes. They
held their gaze, knowing what it meant.
"I love you, Mr. Frodo," said Sam. He was shocked as the words came out of him. Sam was
never good with words, but all of his pent up emotions came forth, as if the dam had broken and
his love poured freely. "I've always loved you. And I can't stand to see you hurt. That's why I'm
here with you now. Because I love you, and I want to save you from that pain."
Frodo looked at Sam with wonder and awe. He had never really allowed himself think of Sam
in that way, mostly because of fear of his feelings and what that might mean. But now that didn't
matter. He then realized that he loved Sam. With all his heart. That fact rose above everything
else. They looked at each other again, with love, and passionately kissed. Sam ran his fingers
through Frodo's curly hair as Frodo held Sam close, as if afraid to ever let him go. They began to
undress each other, with much care. They continued to kiss, and their hands roamed. And then,
they made love, pure, passionate love.
They finally had realized what their relationship meant. They were in love. And that meant not
giving up on each other, no matter what the risks.
