Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Notes: I wrote this between seeing "The Gift" and "There's No Place Like Pltz Glrb.", which means, Buffy's just died and Angel and friends aren't back from Pylea yet.
Comments: There's only this one piece, however, if I get enough feedback I MIGHT be persuaded to come back to it and write more...

He had seen and done much in the last few days. He was probably still in too much shock over Buffy's death to do anything but make tea at ten o'clock in the evening. But Giles never would have expected to have Faith knocking at his door.

"Oh...uh...hello..."

He tried to slam the door shut but Faith with her Slayer strength kept it open.

"Whoa, Giles. Relax. If I was gonna hurt you I probably wouldn't have knocked, ya know? I'm just here to talk. Really."

Giles eyed her. "Talk about what, exactly."

"Well not about B, that's for sure. I just heard..." She explained when Giles looked at her with a hurt expression. "I wanna talk about how I coulda possibly gotten outta prison without busting my way out."

"So...you didn't escape?"

"Look, can I come in already?"

"Hmm? Ah! Yes. Yes, al-alright." Against his better judgement, Giles stepped aside to let her through.

"Thanks." Faith walked in and glanced around as Giles shut the door behind her.

They were both silent for a long time.

Finally, clearing his throat, Giles spoke up. "Uh, can I...can I offer you some tea?"

Faith turned to look at him. She hesitated for a moment. "Nah. You know me, never been one for tea. But...thanks."

"Yes well, perhaps you should sit down and tell me what it is you want."

Faith sat on the sofa and Giles leaned against another chair facing Faith.
"I want answers. I was RELEASED from prison. I didn't escape. But no one told me how or who's responsible. I went looking for Angel, but he's gone MIA. So I thought maybe you could help me."

"Help. You."

"I wanna know who set me free and I wanna know why. I don't want to get all nice and cozy with my life again, only for some jerk in a trenchcoat to come up to me one day and say 'Guess what, I'm the guy who set you free and oh by the way, you owe me.'"

"Yes...I-I see your point. But what is it you think I can do?"

"Well...the Watcher's Council came to mind."

"You think they might have released you?"

"They have that kind of power, don't they?"

"Well yes, and more. But--"

"But why use that power on me? And why not tell me if they were responsible?"

"It doesn't seem to add up."

"Yeah well, someone else came to mind, but they're not really ones to do something unannounced either." Faith said, the idea of Wolfram and Hart dogging her again filling her with anger.

"Really? Who--"

"You don't wanna know." Giles gave her a confused look, but Faith ignored it and stood. "Listen, can you find anything out or not?"

"I'll see what I can do."

"Good." Faith made her way to the door and opened it.

"Um..." Giles started. "What ah...what are you going to do in the meantime?"

Faith stopped just long enough to tell him. "Thought I'd kill some vampires."
