When she was a child she had been a dreamer. She had dreamed her heart and soul away, and wished she was Queen of some fantasy realm, or even a magical creature of the old, so one day when she turned sixteen, she'd sprout wings and fly far, far away, further than the moon, and she'd meet her Prince Charming and he'd whisk her off her feet, or do what ever it is that Prince Charmings are supposed to do, and he'd give her a rose, kiss her (ew, to her eight year old mind, but Disney had had an effect on her) and they'd live happy ever after forever...

But she had other things to do. She had to make sure that her mother didn't do something stupid, and then she had to make sure their bills were paid and they had food to eat. Then she had to make sure that her school fees were paid and other such stuff. She had to make sure her mother never met her teachers, for the fear that they would send her for counseling.

Dreaming was restricted to night-time, and even then, she began to wish she was smarter, prettier, slimmer, everything that princesses should be. There was a gaping hole inside of her, an aching burning longing for something more that resided in her stomach.

Dreams became childish wistfulness, and then were completely forgotten, as confidence wore down to a weariness of life.

Many years later, as she slept in the arms of the cold, stone Angel for whom she'd risk her life, she dreamed the same dream, and woke up, smiling.

"What?" Edward asked Bella, as she smiled and clutched his hand.

"When I was a child, I always prayed that one day my Prince Charming would come, and we'd fall in love and live happily ever after." She cautiously ignored the bits about magical creatures.

Edward grinned crookedly, the way she loved it. "Hmmm. I'm your Prince Charming and you're my brand of Heroin…"

She chuckled at the irony.

"Edward, you know I love you," she said. "I love you."

"Yeah. I love you too," Edward said quietly, his breath tickling her ear. He smelled heavenly.

"I love you more than anything in this world."

"I love you more than anything I know."

"SHUT UP DOWN THERE ALREADY WITH THE DECLARATIONS!" came a voice from upstairs.

The two of them grinned and piped down. She turned to him, closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. Edward kissed her hair, and pulled her close to him.

Nothing needed to be said.

After all, she was safe in the arms of her Prince Charming.

I own no one. Nice? I hope so. Review!!!
