AN: Set post eps. 2:9 Robin and Marian dealing with being separated again. I dont know why I am posting this as it totally sucks.
Deep within Sherwood forest Robin Hood tossed on his bedroll unable to sleep. Sighing he looked to his side to where Marian would have been had she decided to stay. The camp felt so empty without her.
Feeling his throat constrict with tears he got up and walked out of the camp. He sat on a nearby rock. How come things never worked out as he planned them? Just that morning they had it all planned out and they were happily looking forward to their lives together. Now she was back at the castle out of his reach. All he ever really wanted was her. Now that dream seemed further away and more impossible than ever.
He wondered if she was suffering as much as he was. Being away from her was already tearing him apart. Worries clouded his mind threatening to overwhelm him. Looking up to the heavens he did something he hadn't done in a very long time. He prayed. Prayed for the strength to endure this but mostly prayed for the future he longed for with everything in him.
He was lost in his thoughts so didn't know John had joined him until the big man put a hand on his shoulder. "You alright?"
Had it been anyone else Robin would have lied but with John he couldn't. "No."
John looked sympathetically at the young leader. He carried such a burden and so well that the older man often forgot just how young Robin was. At the moment he looked like a lost little boy.
"Everything will work out."
Robin looked at John "How? There are so many things that could go wrong? What if something happens to her in the castle? What if we can't save the King? The odds aren't exactly in our favor you know. What if Marian and I can never be together? What if I threw away our only chance at happiness years ago when I chose war over her?"
"Yes, things could go wrong but I don't believe they will. You were brought back to England, back to her to do great things. You and Marian belong together. Love can give you the strength to do anything. Don't give up."
Robin nodded. John was right he had to believe things would work out. As long as he had Marian's love he would never give up.
As he slept he dreamt of her and the future they would have. Dreams would have to do for now and they gave him hope to hold to and strength.
In Nottingham castle Marian was having similar problems finding impossible to sleep without Robin holding her. How had she gotten so used to being with him in such a short time?
Frustrated she got up and walked over to her window unknowingly looking up at the same stars as Robin was in that instant.
Why on earth had she decided to leave him? The castle was even more suffocating now and she ached from missing Robin so much. Sighing she reminded herself it had to be done.
She walked over to her desk taking out the ring Robin had given her. She kissed it as Robin had done earlier. "I love you, Robin. We will be together someday I promise."
She crawled back in her empty bed and fell asleep dreaming the same dreams he did.
