Dear David,

I'm leaving to go to Boston. I've thought it all over, and I think it's the best thing, for both of us.

When Regina tracked me down and told me you were alive, I thought fate was giving me a second chance at love, or at being with you – which I now realize are two different things.

I did want to help you get back on your feet, but there was also a selfish part of me that just wanted you here with me. I wanted to be supportive, but I realize I never really gave you a choice as to whether or not we would be together. Now I see I was trying to force this life on you, and that was wrong. We can't re-live the past. You should be free to be yourself, and be with someone you really love.

The house is yours, to do what you want with. There's a few hundred dollars of cash in the firesafe, in case you need it. For your sake, I hope you'll be happy with Mary Margaret. Would you please tell her I'm sorry?

Good luck. No hard feelings.

Sincerely, Kathryn

Author's Note: I couldn't decide whether I liked Kathryn/Abigail, until I saw the episode "What Happened to Frederick." The fact that she helped Prince James escape, and let go of David, made me realize she's actually a good person, not just a flat character who exists to create a conflict. Anyway, I know this is short, but I figured Kathryn wouldn't write him a long letter, she just wants to say good-bye and apologize.
