The King and His Men

She was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen.

Although older than many of his shipmates, he couldn't help but be drawn to the much younger beauty who now stood aboard his vessel. Shivering, wet and obviously very scared she stood alone in the centre of the deck, the sailer couldn't help but feel sympathetic and he longed to reach out and comfort her. He took a step forward and immediately she jerked her body towards him, watching every move he made her big brown eyes were filled with fear and she looked like a lion ready to pounce if he came any closer. He immediately froze in his tracks but maintained eye contact, trying to appear as harmless as possible, he knew it would be almost impossible to convince her of that right now.

"It's alright, I won't hurt you" he said softly. She stared him down, not comprehending what was being said, watching him as if her very life depended on his next action and ready to take her own action to protect herself.

"I knew this wouldn't work" he murmured to himself, frustrated.

"Alright you've left me no choice." he said softly. "Alright men, on count of three...1...2...3!"

Immediately every man on deck pounced on the poor, frightened girl standing in their circle, they quickly tied her in ropes until she was securely fastened with no chance of escape.

"Easy boys! No need for unnecessary roughness, it's not like she can swim away from us now, is it?"

They all laughed nervously, glancing at the ropes which bound her.

"You've done well, now head down below for a cup or 2 of grog to calm yerselves."

Upon hearing that particular order, the men quickly left the deck, not one looking back to sneak a quick glance just in case he might be asked to stay. That was his plan, he knew they'd bite and they did, and now he was alone with her.

It was quite the struggle to haul her aboard, the seas were calm now but they weren't at the time. A massive storm had approached shortly after they spotted her and that assisted her greatly with her resistance towards her captors. Of course, at times the waves were a hinderance to her as well and it was during one of these great swells that she lost her battle and was dragged aboard the ship. She looked angry, and truth be known, she WAS angry, but the seas which now seemed to forgive were calm and clear but the glance from her eyes was as stormy as ever.

He approached her slowly and deliberately, knowing any sudden movement could frighten her to death, she trembled at his approach but did not try to move away.

"Easy darling" he said to her, gently wiping the hair away from her eyes "you're a beauty aren't you?"

She looked at him, bewildered.

"It's alright, I won't let them hurt you. I swear."

Before he had a chance to continue the captain approaches, stepping between the two figures who were slowly but surely creating a bond of trust.

"That'll be enough for now, Lieutenant. Good work! Leave her to me, she'll be in good hands I assure you."

Reluctantly he followed his orders and turned away, heading to his quarters he knew he just couldn't forget her like that. She was far too beautiful to push to the back of his mind and although the captain was a fine man, he believed that he could do better. He'd need some help with this, the captain was a smart man as well and wouldn't be easily fooled. As he climbed into his bed and lay beneath the covers he relished the calm seas that were present this night. It had been a long time since they had a night this calm and he thanked the gods for it to happen tonight as he needed to think.

He was almost nodding off when the answer came to him. The answer to the question of who could help him make this beautiful creature his own and steal her from the captain's control? Who would appreciate such beauty and the freedom it deserves? Who would know not only what to do, but how to do it?

There was only one answer.

Jack Sparrow.
