"T, what's that?" Mike Schmidt asked one night, inquiring about his girlfriend, Valentina Hearts' scar on her back. He only knew she had one scar, which she had gotten from Foxy when she accidently scared him. Foxy had sliced Tina's arm open, but she had just shrugged it off and stitched the wound closed.
"H-huh?" Tina said, turning to face him as she unruffled the bottom of the shirt she had put on as pajamas. "What are you talking about?"
"That line on your back. Is it a scar? I've never seen it before," Mike answered, looking at her with confusion and slight alarm. Tina's face flushed.
"I-I-I have n-no idea wha-what you're talking about!" She said, rubbing the back of her neck.
"T. You are bright red, and you're stuttering," Mike said, annoyed that his girlfriend was hiding something from him. Tina was taken aback.
"N-NO I'M NOT!" she exclaimed, her face flushing even more. Mike chuckled.
"If you're so embarrassed then you don't need to tell me. It's okay," He said, smiling.
"I-I-I…." At this point, Tina's face was as red as a tomato. "I-I'm not e-embarrassed. It's ju-just something I don't like to talk about...it's a bad memory," Tina said, her face un-flushing. Mike's smile fell, but he nodded in understandment. He knew what it was like to have a scar and have bad memories about it. She sat down next to him.
"So, umm..when I was about the age of 14, I failed my flying test, and was taken to this place called 'The Rainbow Factory'. I met one of my best friends there, who is a changeling. She helped me escape. Now, the Rainbow Factory is exactly how it sounds. It's a factory that makes rainbows. How they make rainbows though...they take ponies and drain them of their color, and afterwards...I'm not very sure what happens.
"Anyways, I was strapped to the draining machine when my best friend broke free and attacked all the workers. She helped me off the machine, but the damage had already been done. When the workers strap ponies to the draining thing, they have to shove a metal rod into your back in order to keep you from wriggling, as well as strap your arms and legs down. That's how I got this scar…"
When Tina was finished, Mike's jaw had dropped when she mentioned ponies being drained of color. He shook himself out of his shock and hugged her.
"I'm so sorry, T! I didn't know…" He said, and he actually started to tear up.
"It's okay. It's in the past. And of course you didn't know, I never told you!" She said, hugging him back.
"That's so horrible that someone would do something like that to you. It's-" Mike was interrupted as Tina pulled away from him then pulled him towards him, kissing him. When they finally broke apart, Tina looked into his eyes. Alarming blue eyes met clam orchid eyes.
"Mike Schmidt, Foxy bit you when you were a kid by accident, yet it was fate. I failed my flying test because my wings were messed up because of an accident, but it was also fate. We all have our scars, and they mean we survived something bad. And we met each other,"
Mike looked at her, realizing she was right. They had met by fate. If she hadn't of experienced the bad things in her life, she probably wouldn't have stumbled out of that portal and wouldn't be here, in his arms. He pulled her into a loving hug.
"You're right. All our scars are proof that we won our battles," Mike said, and Tina hugged him tightly.
"I love you," She said, even though it was slightly muffled as she pressed her head onto his chest.
"I love you too, Tina," He said in return. Tina looked up and kissed him, before breaking the hug and crawling into bed, Mike wrapping his arms around her.
