Once again, my story has Mia in it. She doesn't have a very large part at all. This considering she doesn't even talk. Yes, I know she is no longer there. Enjoy! Since the story is about softball, if you have any questions as to what anything is, just ask. : )
Can You Hit It?
The nightshift at the Las Vegas Crime Lab was bored out of their minds, and needed something to do. Greg kept going on about playing strip poker, and Sara and Catherine were about ready to strangle him.
"At least if they kill him, we'll have something to do," Nick whispered to Warrick.
Just as Sara got up, and was moving towards Greg, Grissom walked in.
"Thank you, Grissom!" Greg yelled sounding scared.
"For what?" Grissom asked.
"Oh nothing," Greg replied.
"Okay, I don't have any cases for you guys, but I do have an announcement. The annual dayshift vs. nightshift softball game is coming up next week," Grissom announced.
Everyone actually looked excited, and that was exactly what Grissom was hoping for.
"Since we aren't doing anything, why don't we decide positions?" Grissom suggested.
"Wait! Before we start, who is the coach?" Sara asked.
"There actually is no coach. Alright, Catherine, what position do you want?" Grissom asked her.
"Shortstop!" Catherine almost yelled.
"Okay, Sara?"
"2nd base!" Sara yelled even louder than Catherine.
"Warrick?"
"1st base," Warrick said calmly.
"Nick?"
"3rd base," Nick said.
"Greg?"
"Center field," Greg said.
"I'm going to play left field, Mia is going to play right field. Archie is going to pitch, and one of the lab techs, Kelly, is going to be the catcher," Grissom told them.
"Do you know who is pitching for dayshift?" Nick asked.
"I believe Ecklie is pitching," Grissom answered.
Sara smiled, "I guess that means I might accidentally hit a line drive towards the pitcher".
"I'd pay good money to see that," Catherine said sounding very amused.
"Well, it's the end of shift. Meet me at the park practice fields at two for practice," Grissom told them.

At about quarter after two, everyone was at the field and ready to practice. They practiced batting first. Sara, Nick, Warrick, Catherine, Mia, and Archie didn't have a problem batting, but Grissom, Greg, and Kelly weren't doing so well. With all of the team helping them, they were starting to improve.
They practiced grounders, catching, pop-ups, lead offs, and running bases, before calling it quits, and going home. The practices were pretty much the same every day, and they were all getting really good as a team.

It was the day of the game, and the nightshift was pumped up! Every single one of them was ready to win, and beat dayshift. Everyone didn't want the game to last too long, so everyone decided on six innings. Nightshift was up to bat first. Nick hit the ball, and got to first. Sara was up to bat next, and just as she said, she hit a line drive towards Ecklie's stomach resulting in a triple.
The game went great! Grissom even hit a double! Nightshift won the game17-0.
"That was so much fun!" Sara squealed.
"Yeah, I can't wait until the basketball game," Nick said smiling.
There you go! Did you like it, or hate it? Just tell me in a review!
