Memory

February, 13th of 1542

The young Elizabeth Tudor heard the canon. Her stepmother, Queen Katherine Howard, was dead. She opened her jewels' box and took the necklace she gave her when they first met. Her generosity touched the girl. After that event, Katherine was very kind to her. She often invited her for tea, offering her jewels and dresses. Each moment with her was a delightful one. Elizabeth id not considered Katherine as a mother, she was too "childish", she was more like a sister, funnier that Mary but as kind as her. She remembered what she said to her when she received the necklace.

' I will always cherish it.'

Elizabeth was eager to keep her promise. This necklace would be a memory of Katherine but also a warning: " Submit yourself to a man and you may lose you head.".

And decades later, in 1603, after Elizabeth's death, in a box, next to Robert Dudley's last letter, Queen Katherine Howard's necklace was found.

Elizabeth kept her word.
