One day walking back from Rai's place...

"Rai."

"Hm?"

"Why is the sky blue?"

"Because it is not cloudy."

"No, that's not what I meant!"

"Because..." Rai frowned, struggling to think of an appropriate answer.

"It's a sky. Skies are supposed to be blue."

"Oh, okay," he nodded.

Silence filled the air, allowing the soft footsteps to be heard.

"Rai."

"What?"

"Why are there so many dragonflies in the sky?"

"Because their wings itch, so they have to exercise."

"Do their wings always itch?"

"Yes, supposedly. Don't your arms itch sometimes? You just scratch them right? But flies don't have arms, so in order to ease that itch, they fly."

"Oh."

Silence once again filled the air.

"Ra-"

"What?" Rai abruptly cut in, voice hinted with annoyance.

"Why is my mom always sick during spring?"

Caught off guard, Rai felt sweat forming on his face. How was he supposed to answer this question?

"Because she ate something wrong."

"Huh?" Konoe tilts his head in confusion.

"She eats something wrong every spring? What did she eat? How come I am not sick?"

"Konoe," Rai said firmly, and stopped his footsteps.

"Hm?"

"Stop asking so many useless questions."

"Okay."

The two continue to walking silently...

Konoe frowns.

"...but, it looks extremely painful. What should I do?"

"Don't do anything."

"That's impossible. I don't want mom to get hurt."

Rai sighs and glanced down at Konoe with his brows furrowed.

"Do you really want to know the truth?"

"Hn, of course," Konoe answered with ease, while adjusting his hand comfortably into Rai's palm.

"Then..." Rai squeezed Konoe's hand lightly.

"Your mother is in heat."

"In heat? She has a fever?"

"No, it's not just a simple fever. It's actually a reaction towards the need to copulate."

"Copulate? What's that?"

'Is it food?'

Rai stops again.

'It's not food.'

Konoe looked at him as confused as ever.

Taking a deep breath, Rai figured that there's no reason to make this anymore difficult.

"I'll be blunt. Copulation is when a male put his **** inside a female's **** and then they ****. If they don't do this during mating season, it would be bad for the body and it's painful. You've never heard of it?"

Konoe shakes head, while blushing. Ears down.

"When you grow up, that will happen to you too."

Tail bristles.

"T-that would be scary ," Konoe made a bitter face.

"Un," Rai nodded in agreement.

"But..." Konoe started.

"Rai is here. So that's why everything will be alright," Konoe finished, grinning happily.

"..." Rai stared at Konoe with a troubled expression.

'What a scary thing to say. Does this kid even know what he is saying?'
