"Your Honor, if I may, I would like to read an excerpt from my favorite author."

Rose held her breath. The woman sitting serenely on the lily pad gave the Doctor what Rose imagined was a speculative look. It was really hard to read a face when there wasn't one to read.

"You may."

Rose's chains clinked as she shifted nervously.

"Thank you, your Honor. Now!" he whipped out a worn book from within his suit jacket. "Where was I the last time I had to stall for time? Ah…" He cleared his throat dramatically. "'Oh, the places you'll go!'"

Rose groaned.
