December 31. New Year's Eve. The night where one year is over with, but another starts. In the small town of Swallow Falls, a young 13-year-old raccoon by the name of Sylvester Kevin Cooper (or "Sly" to his friends and family) was up in his room and was seemingly writing a type of letter. Though one would think he would be sending it off to the biggest crush of his life, who was none other than the sheriff's daughter; Carmelita Montoya Fox, he wasn't. In fact, he was actually writing a letter to an old friend of his father, Conner Cooper, (not to mention the fathers of Carmelita and his two best friends, Bentley Olsen and Murray Murphy, as well as Sid McSweeny, who owned the boxing gym), as well as a new friend of his. This person was the Holiday Leader of Halloween; Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King.
He still remembered the night he had found the magical map of Halloween Town (the world where Halloween comes from) that belonged to his father in the attic of his home and led Bentley, Murray, and Carmelita on an adventure that none of them could forget. What they didn't count on was saving Christmas (which Jack sought to take over from growing tired of being scary each Halloween, year after year) from being ruined by an eccentric Jack, then from an evil bug-sacked character known as the Oogie Boogie Man. it was then that the following year the his three mischievous, trick-or-treating henchmen known only as Lock, Shock and Barrel, brought him back to life and captured the other six Holiday Leaders so that he could become "The Seven King".
After he finished writing, he did the most unusual thing with the letter in hand; he had completely folded perfectly into a small paper airplane.
"Hey, if it worked with Sally, maybe it might work for me." He thought as he walked towards his window, opened it as it let in a cool breeze from snowing all day, then threw it as the breeze carried it towards the woods.
"Sly, we're going out for Chinese, get ready!" His mother, Sarah Cooper, called from downstairs.
"Coming mom!"
He then grabbed his Iphone, put on a grey windbreaker, then rushed downstairs.
11:55 P.M.
"Almost time, guys!" The young hippo, Murray, exclaimed excitedly over the webcam.
"Geez Murray, save some enthusiasm for the countdown, wontcha?" The young vixen, Carmelita, jokingly demanded from her webcam.
"Guys, it's almost time!" A young turtle, Bentley, spoke up from his webcam.
All four of these young children were speaking via internet webcams as each of their families were in their respective living rooms, while watching a replay of the Times Square New Year Countdown. After two in a half minuets, the Countdown was finally upon them.
"Okay guys, here we go!" Sly excitedly stated as he, as well as everyone else in Swallow Falls began to countdown to the new Year.

"Happy New Year!"
As everyone began to congratulate each other to a Happy New Year, Sly smiled to himself.
"Happy New Year, Jack." He quietly mused and set forth to get ready for bed.
