A/N: Hi, this is the real Leki, and Drop Your Oboe!

James returned to the Gryffindor Common Room after a day full of difficult exams, and being rejected by Lily once again. He had tried to impress by displaying his "advanced spell work." Although, perhaps it was the way he went about showing his talent. Perhaps Lily didn't like pranking people. But it was only Snivellus, and who cares about Snivellus?

He spotted Sirius coming out of the boys dormitories holding his beloved playboy magazine.

"You still sulking, mate?" said Sires as he approached James.

"Why does anything I do offend Lily? I just don't get it, Padfoot!"

"Because everything you do is offensive?"said Remus, walking up to the two friends.

"I wasn't talking to you, Moony!" James was just about to continue responding viciously, when Lily stomped into the common room distracting James from his retort completely. James cheered up slightly, he was always happy when Lily was in the vicinity, but then he remembered how upset Lily was.

James sauntered up to Lily, inquiring arrogantly, "So, Lils, did you enjoy the entertainment this afternoon?" She opened her mouth as if to scream at him, but no sound came out. She raised her hand, and slapped him across the face.

"Ow! Lils, what was that for?"

"That, Potter, was for being a rude, arrogant git!" There was an awkward silence, then she turned around and stormed up to the girl's dormitory.

Running his hands through his hair concernedly, James walked up to his dormitory, contemplating Lily's remark. Back in the girls' dorm, Lily thought about her true feelings for James. But if she agreed to go out with him now, he would assume that his flirting techniques had been effective.

Meanwhile, James buried his head in the blankets, to avoid thinking about his puzzling conundrum.
