Vigilance
By SMYGO4EVA

Never in the days of the Dimensional Witch's life and in rebirth was she able to make her mind as to whether fate was truly on the side of the four travelers. Most of the time inevitability seemed to play parts of all of their lives, but the witch wondered if she was on fate's side as well, its good side, in a way. However it seemed that when a certain facet of hitsuzen intervened, a different outcome would fall into place. Indeed she wouldn't be surprised if that was the case; one made completely from the black skies hung over the world would want fate to be defied and torn aside like a tarnished tapestry. However, she was the point of interest to this powerful master who wanted nothing more to control all the timelines that she had watched over for many years.

The master, Fei Wong Reed, was able to distort what fate had in store for Yūko and make her endure what life had for her and her waning existence, with her powers gaining and losing all meaning in each day that she still existed. Indeed she was kept alive by his descendant, Clow Reed, but she knew that Clow wasn't as dastardly and filled with malice as the creator of such misfortune that was placed upon the four travelers in the past, present, and their far away future. Perhaps that was why she was spared from death's cruel jaws, that Fei Wong Reed was reminded of his ancestor's love for the witch and wanted to live for another thousand years. Now there was no doubt that this was the case.

As the master has said, he sought the power of the princess's wings to "bring back a dream that has already ended", and he did not care how much blood was shed to bring the vision back into reality where it seemingly belonged. What he didn't know was that she wanted to be put in the never-ending sleep after all what she had was put into place like it should have been a long time ago. She controlled the map of dimensions, therefore she was still breathing and her heart was still beating, blood still flowing in her veins. That was the only wish that Fei Wong Reed would have wanted granted. The four travelers were pawns in his game and in her illusionary quest, searching for the scattered memories of the princess being integral to the witch's life and the master's wish.

The master was manic in his want for the witch to remain immortal, but her wish for sweet death's release was too great. Even she had no control over the flow of time when it was at a standstill for her and not for the four travelers she was deemed responsible for. He was at his worst when it came to people's lives in order to preserve her life for even longer than she wanted to stay alive. The flow of blood was unstoppable there, and in the end what he saw in his own illusions wouldn't become reality anymore.

Every step she took and what he placed in was a part of inevitability, a part of something that was to be expected. She was watched over by him, the master of twisted agony, and in turn she watched over fate's flow in the dimension she oversaw. After he was struck by the blood-soaked vengeance that haunted him, time caught her and she found herself in the release she had always wanted. It was inevitable that she would die even after she was supposed, and for him to perish as well, with vigilance not being not their side after all.
