It was a beautiful day as it was snowing beautifully in the thick forest but to many, it was a day filled with grief and sadness as they had lost a precious comrade.
Within the cold, snowy forest, a young boy with icy white hair kneeled in front of a grey tombstone. His expression looked as if he had lost all meanings in his life and his eyes mirrored grief of someone who had just lost someone important to them.
''Why her? Why did she sacrifice her life for mine? Why Couldn't I be the one who died instead?'', he let a single tear roll down his cheek as these questions kept repeating again and again in his head.
''Taicho, we should be heading back now or the others would be worried.'', Rangiku said to her captain with a hint of concern and a tint of sadness in her voice.
''Matsumoto, you can head back first, I still want to stay here.'', he replied to Rangiku, trying not to show any emotion towards the strawberry-blond.
''But!''
''I said I want to stay here, Matsumoto!'', he shouted at her.
''Slap!'', the sound of her hand as it came in contact with his cheek rang through the snowy forest.
''She sacrificed her life for you so that you can keep on living your life without hesitation or regrets so even if you have no will to live, at least keep yourself alive for her!'', she shouted back at him before pulling him into a warm, motherly hug that was for once, not suffocating.
''Matsumoto…'', he said as his tears threatened to overflow.
''Taicho, if you want to cry, you can just let it out. It would make you feel better.'', Rangiku said in a very comforting tone that provoked him to sniffle for a while but soon turned into him crying loudly.
As Rangiku was busy comforting him, they did not notice there was someone humming a lovely song. A translucent figure suddenly appeared, sitting on a nearby tree.
''Ara, ara, don't cry Shiro-chan, it isn't benefiting for a Taicho like yourself to cry isn't it. If it isn't for you comforting him Ran-chan, I wouldn't rest in peace at all.'', she whispered but he voice could only be heard by the two shinigamis.
'' Mikuni?'', they both asked but only to see her appear in front of them smiling.
''I may be dead physically but I will always live on in each of your hearts.'', she said happily before continuing, ''I will never leave you nor forsake you as the snow represents me since I am alive in your hearts a memories.'', she had a gentle smile plastered on her face before disappearing with the wind.
''Hontoni, arigato Mikuni.'', they both whispered to her in unison as they walked back to their division.
As they were walking, a voice came by saying, ''love is the answer obviously as Ran-chan always said, love makes you do weird things so remember Shiro-chan, I will always love you.''
The voice was cool and calm but when Toshiro heard it, he knew it was Mikuni as he felt a smooth pair of lips kiss him.
''I love you too, Mikuni.'', he whispered into the cold air.
Once again it was snowing beautifully in the forest, only this time with a snow angel to guard the forest, guiding lost souls to reincarnation.
