He walked the streets of the city he had once tried to destroy and stared at the remaining rubble. It had been nearly six months since the battle of Manhattan, but still the streets were coated in dust and bits of broken glass. Everywhere, there stood half rebuilt structures and others that hadn't even been started on. Loki felt a chill run down his spine as he let his gaze travel up the Stark tower standing before him in the distance. He still hated the Avengers with a burning passion for spoiling his plans; if not for them he would be ruling the city right now. Loki's thoughts of hatred and revenge were interrupted by a noise to his left. Turning toward the sound he found himself standing beside a very large pile of rubble where, he knew, an office building had once stood. At the base of the pile sat a young woman with her back to the god of mischief. He stared intently at her knowing that she was unaware of his presence. She was clad in a black pea coat with neon blue skinny jeans and black boots that came half way up her calves. Her hair was as white as the snow that fell softly around them and straightened to reach her shoulders. The longer he stared the more captivated he became until he found himself moving closer to her. When he was about two yards away he stopped dead in his tracks and stared, not at the girl, but at the ground in front of her. Every few seconds another spot would melt into the snow and he finally realized that she was crying As Loki took another step forward his foot hit a small piece of rubble and sent it skittering across the ground to hit her foot. Startled, the woman jumped to her feet and spun around to face the strange man staring at her.

"I didn't mean to startle you. I only wanted to see if you were alright." He said lightly so as not to scare her any more than he already had. For a minute or so she simply stood there watching him and looking as if she might run. Finally seeming to relax a bit she wiped her eyes and let out a breath neither of them had realized she was holding.

"I'm fine, but thank you." She replied reaching down to pick up her messenger bag.

"Really? In my experience people who are fine don't cry over piles of rubble." Loki stated.

"Why do you care if I was crying or not?" The woman asked, her light grey-blue eyes boring into Loki's green ones.

"I was simply wondering why you were." He said. After a moment she looked away from him and back at the rubble behind her.

"If you really want to know, I was crying because my brother died here when Loki tried to take Manhattan. You know, it makes me wonder, if Loki had won he'd be ruling the city right now, but why would you want to rule a city of rubble and death?...You didn't think of that when you came here did you?" She said looking up at the stranger. It was at that moment that Loki realized that she knew exactly who he was.

"Did you really think that human's wouldn't fight back? Was all of this really worth it?" She asked gesturing to the rubble before turning to walk away. As Loki watched her retreating figure he had a curious thought and quickly stepped forward.

"Wait! Tell me your name." He said as she looked back at him and smiled.

"Why? If you had it your way I would be a ghost among the rubble." She said walking away.
