Crossing the River
He sits on the bank, he gazes out
Across a vast expanse of glittering silver
That sparkles under golden sunlight
And blinds when he
Stares
Blackened, dead grass spreads beneath his weight
His demon smirks and chuckles as he sits
Wondering what is on the other
Side
Standing, his demon smirks and hisses poisonous words
Its horrible laughter echoes all around
As the heavy chains rattle
And remind him that he is
Trapped
Straining his eyes, he can see that
On the other side
The grass is
Green
There are
Flowers
There is
Life
And a boy
Beckons with an open
Hand
He turns away
And drags heavy feet
Behind him, the glimmering water
Seems to
Cry
No…
Not the water,
The boy
Calling out
Begging with lovely
Amethyst eyes
So
With hands that shake
And tremble
And my demon shrieking in protest
I bend
I unclasp my shackles
I wade into the water
I cross the river
And leave my demon
To drown
Behind me
This poem, amateurish though it may be-what can I say, I'm a novice poet-is basically Ryou crossing the metaphorical river that seperates him from Yuugi and their potential friendship and finally leaving Bakura to drown behind him. There you go, now you understand if you didn't already.
