Rei was stunned to see Ramiel right in front of her. At least that's what she'd deducted it was. It was a smaller version of Ramiel. It still had a blue, transparent body with a simple geometrical form at the moment, and it seemed to start changing shape when agitated. It was only a couple days ago when they defeated it with the positron rifle. Or so she thought.
Today, Pilot Ikari had brought the miniature Ramiel to her. A flurry of questions started running in her mind. How did Pilot Ikari get his hands on this? How was Ramiel still alive? Why did he contain this Angel? Why didn't he destroy it? Should she report this to NERV?
Rei looked around and didn't see any trace of Pilot Ikari anywhere. She then focused her gaze on the miniature Ramiel. She put herself in a state of alert. The girl tried to observe the fowl Angel for any information to defeat it while not trying to provoke an attack.
Shinji returned, perplexed at Rei's interaction with the blue cube.
"What's the matter, Rei?" Shinji asked, noticing the girl's jumpy state.
Rei blocked the boy from getting any closer to the threat. "Be cautious, Ikari. Ramiel might attack any minute now."
Shinji now understood why the girl was so paranoid. "Rei, it's just Jell-O."
Rei was confused what Shinji meant. 'Jell-O? It's not Ramiel? Is Jell-O this Angel's designation?' She picked up her fork and frantically started poking it to see if it would attack. Shinji chuckled at the blue haired girl.
"You're supposed to eat it. Like this." Shinji demonstrated by cutting a part of 'Jell-O' and putting the smaller fragment in his mouth. Then he made contented noises as he chewed.
Rei was appalled. She'd thought the Third Child had gone insane. "You...consume the Angel?" Rei questioned with fear in her voice.
"Angel? It's not an Angel, silly! It's food." Shinji said playfully.
'Food?' Rei glanced back at the accursed blue being and took a deep breath. She stabbed the monster with her fork and proceeded to put the slippery substance in her mouth. Rei's facial expressions relaxed as she chewed.
"It's blueberry."
